The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to sit down this week with Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb as they continue their search for a new head coach. According to reports, Webb is also on the Buffalo Bills’ radar, though any potential meeting with them will have to wait until Denver wraps up its season.
Webb is quickly becoming one of the more compelling names in this year’s coaching carousel. At just 30 years old, he's already drawing attention from multiple teams, including the Ravens, thanks to his rapid rise through the coaching ranks and a playing career that, while brief, gave him a front-row seat to several quarterback rooms across the league.
A third-round pick by the Giants in 2017 out of Cal, Webb entered the league with the tools and football IQ that often translate into coaching success. Though he never took a regular-season snap for the Giants during his rookie deal, his time in the league wasn’t without value. After being waived by New York, he landed with the Jets, eventually earning a promotion from the practice squad to the active roster.
Webb later found a home in Buffalo, where he made his NFL debut in 2021. That stint with the Bills helped solidify his reputation as a sharp mind in the quarterback room, even if he wasn’t seeing the field often.
He returned to the Giants in 2022, spending time on their practice squad before making the jump to coaching. The Broncos brought him aboard in 2024 to guide their quarterbacks, and he’s made enough of an impression in that role to earn head coaching interest just two years later.
In terms of playing experience, Webb suited up in two career games-one each for the Bills and Giants-completing 23 of 40 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown. While modest on paper, his transition from backup quarterback to potential head coach at such a young age speaks volumes about how he's viewed inside NFL buildings.
Now, with the Raiders and Bills both expressing interest, Webb’s coaching future looks to be accelerating just as quickly as his playing career wound down. Whether he lands a head coaching job this cycle or not, it’s clear he’s a name to watch in the coming years.
