Keon Coleman Is Giving The Bills A Reason To Rethink His Ceiling

Keon Coleman looks poised to shine under new leadership, taking key steps to become a pivotal player for the Buffalo Bills.

Keon Coleman’s season is starting to look a whole lot different for the Buffalo Bills.

A year ago, the wideout was buried by a brutal 2025 campaign. After a Week 1 breakout against the Baltimore Ravens, his production fell off fast.

He never topped 50 yards in a game after that opener, and at one point he was even a healthy scratch because of maturity issues. What once looked like a promising start turned into a situation that had people wondering whether Coleman’s future in Buffalo was slipping away entirely.

Then, when Sean McDermott was fired, even more about Coleman’s place with the team felt up in the air.

The arrival of Joe Brady changed the outlook. Brady, who had worked with Coleman over the last two seasons, took over as head coach and immediately gave Coleman a chance to be used the right way. Brady had also been publicly supportive of Coleman throughout the offseason, and that backing is starting to show up on the field.

Through five games, Coleman has 224 receiving yards and two touchdowns, which is already half his touchdown total from last season. He delivered one of his best performances in Week 4 against the New England Patriots, finishing with six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown that would have won the game for Buffalo if the defense had held up.

He found the end zone again this past Monday night, even though his receiving numbers weren’t eye-popping. That score kicked off a stretch of six straight touchdown drives between both teams.

Before the season, ESPN’s Seth Walder projected Coleman would finish with 750-plus receiving yards and at least five touchdowns. Walder revisited those preseason calls and said Coleman is right on track:

" Coleman had been on a bit of a production tear on plays when DJ Moore was off the field until Monday night, when he managed only 7 receiving yards in a game that Moore missed. Still, Coleman's 224 receiving yards put him on pace for 761 yards over a full season.

If Moore -- who did not play Monday due to a shoulder injury -- misses more time, that will help Coleman's cause. Not playing the Rams every week should, too." said Walder.

The numbers support the idea that Coleman is making real progress. In the two games where DJ Moore exited because of his shoulder injury, Weeks 2 and 4, Coleman stepped up and produced. In those games combined, he has 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown.

For Bills fans, that’s enough to keep watching closely. Coleman is moving toward Walder’s projection, and his early-season production is giving Buffalo a reason to believe he could turn into a true difference-maker.

Josh Allen Is One Run Away From Another Rare Bills Moment

Josh Allen has already carved out a place in NFL history with his legs, and the next milestone is sitting close enough to feel inevitable. The Bills quarterback owns the league record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 87, and his combination of power, patience and improvisation has made him one of the most dangerous dual threats the position has ever seen.

A meeting with the Raiders offers Allen a chance to add another rare marker to that resume, especially against a defense that has struggled to slow down runners. Buffalo has seen this before with Allen, where one productive Sunday can push him into territory occupied by only a tiny group of quarterbacks, and this matchup gives him another opportunity to keep climbing. Former Bills Starter Faces Buffalo With Plenty To Prove

Taron Johnsons return to Buffalo comes with a little more edge than the usual reunion. The cornerback, drafted by the Bills in 2018, spent years carving out a meaningful role in Buffalo and left behind a highlight reel that still stands out, especially that 101-yard interception return in the 2021 playoffs.

Now with the Raiders, Johnson is set to line up against the team that once made plans to move on from him before the offseason trade sent him to Las Vegas. He has settled into a new uniform and a new defense, and this matchup offers a familiar backdrop with a personal incentive attached, since a takeaway against his former team would also give him a first that has yet to arrive in silver and black. Bills Stars Head To Vegas With History Suddenly Within Reach

The Bills head into their game against the Raiders with a few milestone watch items bubbling in the background, the kind that tend to pop up when a veteran core has been productive long enough to start climbing the record book. Josh Allen is already off to the best possible start as a runner, holding the NFL mark for consecutive games with a rushing touchdown to open a season, and the rest of Buffalos skill group also has a chance to make its mark while the team is still chasing bigger goals in Las Vegas.

Greg Rousseau, Dawson Knox and Khalil Shakir each have something within reach on Buffalos all-time lists, giving this matchup a little extra meaning beyond the standings. The most eye-catching chase belongs to Allen, who is within striking distance of another rung on the NFLs rushing touchdown chart, while Knox has a narrow path to move up the Bills receiving yardage ladder if the offense can keep feeding him at the right time.
