Josh Allen Teases Foot Surgery as Bills Face Major Offseason Shift

Despite offseason uncertainty in Buffalo-from Josh Allens lingering foot issue to a coaching shakeup-the franchise remains focused on a quick rebound.

The Buffalo Bills are staring down a pivotal offseason after a tough Divisional Round exit-and the changes are already underway. On Monday, the team parted ways with head coach Sean McDermott, signaling a new chapter in Buffalo.

But that’s not the only headline. Quarterback Josh Allen, the heart and soul of this franchise, might be headed for a foot procedure this offseason.

General manager Brandon Beane confirmed the possibility on Wednesday, noting that while Allen may need a procedure, the expectation is that he’ll be ready in time for OTAs. That’s a sigh of relief for Bills fans, who know just how essential Allen is to everything this team does on offense.

This news doesn’t come out of nowhere. Allen was banged up heading into the Divisional Round matchup, showing up on the injury report with foot, finger, and knee issues.

Whether he aggravated something during the loss to Denver or was simply gutting it out through lingering pain, it was clear he wasn’t 100 percent. Still, Allen played with the kind of toughness we’ve come to expect from him, refusing to let injuries define his postseason.

The bigger picture, though, is what happens next-particularly on the coaching front. With McDermott out, the Bills are now in the market for a new head coach, and there’s already buzz about a potential reunion that could reshape Buffalo’s offense.

Brian Daboll, the former Bills offensive coordinator who helped mold Allen into the quarterback he is today, is reportedly a top candidate. According to league sources, Daboll is eyeing the Bills’ head coaching job, and if that doesn’t pan out, he’s expected to land in Tennessee as the Titans’ offensive coordinator.

Daboll isn’t the only name in the mix. Interim OC Joe Brady is also under consideration, along with a list of external candidates.

But the Daboll connection is hard to ignore-especially given his history with Allen. During Daboll’s time in Buffalo, Allen took a massive leap in his development, going from a raw talent to one of the league’s elite quarterbacks.

That kind of chemistry doesn’t just disappear.

And make no mistake-Allen will have a voice in this search. As the franchise cornerstone, his input will carry weight. Whether he actively pushes for Daboll or simply offers insight behind the scenes, his presence in the process is a given.

So, while the sting of another playoff disappointment still lingers in Buffalo, the focus has already shifted to what’s next. A new head coach.

A potentially minor procedure for their QB1. And a chance to reset the direction of a franchise that still believes its Super Bowl window is open.

The offseason is just getting started in Western New York, but the decisions made in the coming weeks will shape the Bills’ future-for better or worse.
