Josh Allen keeps finding new ways to put himself in rare company, and he gets another shot at it when the Buffalo Bills face the Los Angeles Chargers tomorrow at 1PM.
The Bills are coming off extra rest from Week 2, and Allen has already spent the first two games looking every bit like the best player in the league. Through those outings, he has thrown for 582 yards and 5 touchdowns without an interception. He has also added 92 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground, with his longest scoring run going 21 yards.
That rushing production is what makes this next stat line so eye-catching. Allen has scored double-digit rushing touchdowns in each of the past three seasons, and with four already in two games, he is on track to make it four straight years. His lowest season total came in 2021, when he finished with 6 rushing touchdowns, which was also one of his best years as a pro.
There is another milestone within reach, too. According to the Buffalo Bills’ PR team, if Allen runs for two touchdowns again, he will become one of four players in NFL history to rush for two touchdowns in each of his first three games. The only other names on that list are Jim Brown, Stephen Davis, and Priest Holmes.
That kind of production is what separates Allen from the usual quarterback mold. He can beat teams through the air, but he can also punish them when the pocket breaks down or when a lane opens up.
His rushing scores are not limited to short sneaks at the goal line, either. They can come from anywhere on the field, which is a big part of what makes him so difficult to defend.
The Chargers will have to deal with all of that while trying to slow down a Buffalo offense that also has James Cook helping keep defenses honest. Los Angeles is allowing 86.5 rushing yards per game, but the Bills have shown they can bring plenty of pressure on the ground.
Allen and the Bills will take the field in an early afternoon AFC matchup, and the question is simple: can he keep building on this start and join a list you usually expect to see filled with running backs?

Bills Could Have A Real Edge If Marvin Harrison Jr. Talks Heat Up
The buzz around Marvin Harrison Jr. is exactly the kind of long-shot speculation that tends to follow a team looking for another jolt on offense, and Buffalo has a small but interesting connection that makes the idea linger a little longer than usual. The Bills new receivers coach, Drew Terrell, and special teams coach, Jeff Rodgers, both spent time coaching in Arizona, giving them some familiarity with Harrison and, at minimum, a better sense of what kind of player he is and how he might fit.
Still, there has been nothing from the Bills or from NFL insiders to suggest a trade is actually in motion, which is why this remains more curiosity than something concrete. Even so, the presence of coaches who know the Cardinals side of the equation adds an extra layer to any discussion, because when a player of Harrisons profile comes up, teams are always looking for edges, and Buffalo may have one tucked into its new staff. Bills Playmakers May Have To Carry More Than Expected Vs Chargers
The Bills head into their meeting with the Chargers with a familiar sort of pressure on the offense, because the margin for error looks thinner than usual. Khalil Shakir and Joshua Palmer are among the key names to watch, and Buffalo may need both of them to do more than just fill roles if the passing game is going to keep pace with what Los Angeles can bring.
On the other side of the ball, the Bills also have some defensive questions to sort through, with DeWayne Carter and Christian Benford among the players whose availability and recent form matter as the matchup approaches. Add in the teams records and the way both offenses have been trending, and this game shapes up as one where Buffalos most reliable playmakers could end up carrying an even bigger load than planned. Bills Suddenly Have Another Secondary Problem Before Chargers Game
The Bills are making another tweak to the back end of their defense before facing the Chargers, elevating defensive back Te'Cory Couch from the practice squad to the active roster for Week 3. The move comes after Jordan Hancock was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, a setback that will keep him out for at least four games and forces Buffalo to adjust its secondary depth again.
Couch, an undrafted rookie, has been part of the organization since 2024 and has cycled through multiple practice squad and reserve/future contracts while trying to earn a longer look. For a Bills defense already navigating injuries in the secondary, his promotion adds another layer of uncertainty and another chance for a young defensive back to carve out a role when the team needs stability most.
