Josh Allen And Greg Rousseau Are Closing In On Bills History

Buffalo Bills stars Josh Allen, James Cook, and Greg Rousseau are closing in on franchise milestones and NFL records as they make history in Week 9.

The Buffalo Bills’ record book has been getting a workout, and Week 9 brings another batch of milestones worth tracking. Josh Allen, James Cook, Greg Rousseau, Dawson Knox, and Tyler Bass have all pushed names around the franchise ledger lately, and there are still a few more marks hanging in the balance.

Start with Dawson Knox, who is sitting on 2,736 career receiving yards. That total has him tied with James Lofton for 16th in Bills history, and one more yard would move him ahead of the Hall of Fame receiver.

The wrinkle here is Khalil Shakir, who has 2,666 career receiving yards and is only 70 behind Knox. With half the season still to go, that one could turn into a teammate chase all the way through Week 18.

Josh Allen has a couple of numbers in play as well. He needs just nine rushing yards to reach 5,000 for his career after gaining 30 against Baltimore, which leaves him at 4,991. That sounds like a small ask, though Allen did manage only one rushing yard against Las Vegas three weeks ago, so it is not quite a lock yet.

Allen is also one touchdown away from another major milestone. Peyton Manning owns the NFL record for the most combined touchdowns through a player’s first 10 seasons with 322, and Allen is right behind him at 321.

One touchdown through the air or on the ground would tie Manning. Two would give Allen the record outright.

James Cook is closing in on Allen from the other direction. Cook has 4,966 career rushing yards, leaving him 25 shy of Allen’s 4,991.

That means he needs to outgain his quarterback by 26 yards to move into fourth place on Buffalo’s all-time rushing list. It has already bounced around the notebook a few times, and this one looks like it could be decided before Week 18.

Allen also has a shot at two Hall of Famers on the rushing touchdown list. He has 88 career rushing scores, which puts him two away from tying Eric Dickerson and Curtis Martin at 90. Two rushing touchdowns in a game is not new territory for Allen, but with Cook handling plenty of the ground work and Allen also doing damage as a passer, it does not quite land in the sure-thing category.

Greg Rousseau has his own pair of targets. He already has seven sacks this season, one short of his career high of eight, which he reached in both 2022 and 2024.

One sack against the Minnesota Vikings would match that mark. Two would give him nine on the year and a new personal best.

The bigger chase for Rousseau is a little farther up the franchise list. He has already moved past Darryl Talley on Buffalo’s career sack chart, and now Mario Williams is next.

Williams finished his Bills run with 43 sacks, while Rousseau has 39. That leaves him four away from tying Williams and 4.5 from passing him.

That is a steep climb for one game, but the record book has already been moving fast. With Monday night still ahead, Buffalo could need the pencils, the erasers, and the permanent markers all at once.

Bills Add Familiar AFC East Help Ahead Of Tough Week 9

The Bills added some familiar AFC East experience to their secondary this week, signing cornerback Kader Kohou to the practice squad ahead of their Week 9 matchup with the Vikings. Kohou arrives with a background that should make the transition easier, having spent three seasons with Miami and also time with Kansas City before his recent release.

For Buffalo, the move is about adding another layer of depth at a position that can get stressed quickly over the course of a season. The Bills are trying to keep momentum rolling with a fourth straight win in sight, and bringing in a player who knows the division gives them a little more insurance as the schedule tightens. Bills Offense Gets Its Biggest Test Yet Against Minnesota

Monday night brings a rare kind of measuring stick for Buffalo, one that strips away the weekly noise and puts the Bills offense in a direct collision with the leagues most efficient defense by the numbers. It is the sort of matchup that tends to tell you a lot about where a contender really stands, especially when the conversation centers on EPA per play and the gap between an attack that can score in bunches and a unit built to smother it.

The historical backdrop is part of what makes this one worth watching, because these elite-versus-elite showdowns have not come around often and they have not always gone the same way. The offense has had a slight edge over time, but the results have been close enough to suggest there is no easy script here, which only adds to the intrigue for a Bills team trying to prove its ceiling against Minnesota. Bills Face A Keon Coleman Decision That Could Split Fans

Keon Coleman has given the Bills a useful early return, with three touchdowns and 287 yards on 20 catches, and his presence has been part of Buffalos effort to keep the offense moving while the roster gets sorted out for the stretch run. Even so, the Bills are still weighing where they need help most as they try to build a team good enough for a real Super Bowl push.

That is where the conversation gets interesting, because ESPNs Dan Graziano floated the idea that Coleman could become part of a deal to bring in defensive help. No trade has been reported, but the mere possibility is enough to spark debate in Buffalo, where fans are already trying to figure out whether a productive young receiver is a core piece or a movable asset.
