Joe Brady Just Raised The Standard For Buffalos Defense

An insightful look into AFC coaches' perspectives as they strategize for consistency and growth amid early-season highs and lows.

The Bills’ defense earned a public stamp of approval from Joe Brady after Sunday’s performance, and the message from Buffalo’s head coach was clear: that level needs to stick.

Brady said he wants the unit to treat what it put on the field as the standard moving forward, not just a one-game spike. “I think our defense should look at today and understand that that’s what the expectation is,” Brady said, via the team’s website.

“And I’m not talking about the production. I’m not talking about the takeaways and sacks.

I’m talking about the style that they played, the way that they flew around. Look, I’m just watching it out there, but I think the silent tape’s going to speak loudly in terms of the way that they played for one another, the way they ran around, the communication.

Everything we challenged them with coming off the bye, I thought they responded to it, and they just kept going.”

In New York, the mood was much harsher after the Jets’ loss to the Dolphins. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick didn’t sugarcoat it, saying, “I think we had some bad penalties, bad mistakes,” Fitzpatrick said, via ESPN. “Jets being Jets.”

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson pointed to the red-zone problems and said the team has to sharpen its approach. “We’ve got to be on our s- that much more, and we haven’t been,” Wilson said of the red-zone issues.

“It’s all about being a sniper. I’ve said that before and that’s got to be the mentality.

You get one shot at the scene.”

Head coach Aaron Glenn also said the defense has to find a way to get back on track. “I have to dig deep and figure it out: How do we improve on defense?”

Glenn added. “We started hot early in the year and then we kind of slowed down.”

In New England, Mike Vrabel backed kicker Andy Borregales and said he’s not losing faith in him. “Got a lot of confidence in Andy,” Vrabel said, via PFT.

“I think when you see the timing and when the approach is in rhythm, it looks really good. We have to make our kicks.

Everybody has a job here. There’s no real message, it’s, Hey, we gotta make ‘em.

But I’ve got a lot of confidence. I thought he did a really good job on the kickoff.

And hopefully he’s making a lot of extra points and not having him kick a lot of field goals.”

Tyler Bass Just Turned Bills Win Into A Bigger Statement

Buffalos 36-10 rout of Baltimore was already the kind of win that can change the tone around a locker room, but Tyler Bass added a little extra weight to it on Sunday. The Bills were sharp on both sides of the ball at home, and Bass kept his steady run going in a game that felt increasingly one-sided as the afternoon wore on.

His latest kick came after rookie cornerback Davison Igbinosun came up with a key interception, another sign that Buffalo is getting impact plays from all over the roster. With the Bills now 6-1, Basss consistency has become part of the bigger story, and the kind of detail that can matter when games tighten later in the season. [Read more 🡒]

Bills Fans Will Notice One Crack In Minnesotas Strong Start

Minnesotas 6-1 start has kept the Vikings in the upper tier of the national conversation, but the first loss of the season has brought a little more skepticism into the picture. In the latest round of power rankings, several outlets still have them sitting in the top eight, which says plenty about how much respect theyve earned and how little room there is for a slip when a team gets to that stage of the season.

For Buffalo, the interesting part is where the cracks are starting to show. The Vikings offense has come under scrutiny, and the quarterback discussion has only gotten louder after the Detroit loss, with Kyler Murray drawing sharp criticism in some corners. A team can live with a bad Sunday in October, but when national observers start circling the same issues, it usually means the next opponent gets a clearer picture of where the pressure points are. Bills Face One Big Trade Deadline Question At Wide Receiver

Buffalos search for another receiver has become one of the more interesting subplots ahead of the NFL trade deadline, and the conversation naturally circles back to a player who could fit what the Bills want to do on offense. Indianapolis is in a rebuilding phase after moving key pieces, which is why a fourth-year wideout there has started to draw attention as a possible target for a team looking to add a reliable, scheme-friendly option.

The appeal is obvious from Buffalos side: the receiver brings production, experience and a profile that could mesh with Josh Allens passing game. The remaining question is whether the Colts are willing to keep dealing, and what kind of price would be enough to pry away a player who still has value in their long-term plans. [Read more 🡒]
