Taylor Swift’s security team has included some serious size from the very beginning, and one of her earliest protectors came from the NFL. Jasen Esposito, a former offensive lineman listed at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, was the first bodyguard Swift relied on as her career started to take off.
Swift was recently seen in Pennsylvania with Esposito, a longtime member of her security circle. Fans noticed the obvious overlap with another towering football figure in her life, husband Travis Kelce. But Esposito’s connection to Swift goes back years, to an early event when her father, Scott Swift, reached out for help managing the crowd.
On the Ross Tucker Podcast, Esposito explained how the job came together. “He (Scott) calls me up and asked me what I was doing Saturday afternoon…” Esposito said.
“I’m gonna need you to stand by Taylor for her autograph signing hour.” He also said Scott was concerned after someone tried to hug Taylor at a previous event, and that the family zeroed in on a “big intimidating guy” for the role.
“Scott thought of me right away,” said Esposito. “(Scott Swift) calls me up and asked me what I was doing Saturday afternoon…”“…need you to stand by Taylor for her autograph signing hour…”
Esposito’s football background made him a natural fit. He played college football at Kutztown University before spending time with the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and NFL Europe. After his playing days, he moved into business and recruiting, and now works as Vice President at Go Big Recruiting alongside former teammates.
For Swift, the relationship has lasted well beyond that first assignment. She continues to navigate high-profile touring and public appearances, and Esposito remains part of the trusted group helping keep those moments organized and secure. The Pennsylvania appearance offered a quieter glimpse of that setup, with Esposito still in the picture years after Scott Swift first called him in.
