In a surprising offseason move, the Chicago Bears traded wide receiver D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
This shift comes after Moore inked a hefty four-year, $110 million extension with the Bears in 2024, leading many to believe he would remain in Chicago for the long haul. However, Moore himself wasn’t caught off guard by the trade.
"I'm excited," Moore shared. "I'm ready for a new challenge and journey.
My time in Chicago ended on a high note, with a great season. Now, it’s time to bring that energy here."
Last season, Moore was a key contributor for the Bears, snagging 50 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns. His efforts helped Chicago clinch the NFC North and secure a playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers. Over his tenure with the Bears, Moore amassed 244 catches, 3,012 yards, and 20 touchdowns.
The Bills, like the Bears, faced disappointment in the Divisional Round of the 2026 playoffs, falling to the Denver Broncos. Despite their playoff runs, the Bills are still chasing that elusive Super Bowl appearance in the Josh Allen era.
"It's tough to win in this league. You’ve got to celebrate the victories," Moore remarked.
"But losses are lessons. They help you grow as a player, and you move forward each time."
Moore, who previously played for the Carolina Panthers, enters the upcoming season with impressive career stats: 608 receptions, 8,213 yards, and 41 touchdowns. He’s eager to team up with Josh Allen, the 2024 MVP.
"Allen's a field general," Moore said, praising his new quarterback. "Watching him orchestrate on the field is something special, and I’m excited to be a part of that."
Allen wrapped up last season with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards, and 14 rushing touchdowns. He underwent right foot surgery after the season to repair a broken bone, but expectations remain high for the dynamic quarterback and his new target, Moore.
