The Buffalo Bills made their move for a reason, and DJ Moore is already showing why the trade mattered.
Buffalo went into the offseason with a clear need: Josh Allen didn’t have a true No. 1 wide receiver after the 2025 NFL season. The front office answered by sending a 2026 second-round pick to the Chicago Bears and getting Moore plus a 2026 fifth-round pick in return. A few months later, the early returns are looking strong.
Moore and Allen have quickly developed real chemistry, and the connection has started to show up on the field. Speaking with reporters after practice on Wednesday afternoon, Moore pointed to what’s happening away from the field as the engine behind the growing trust between the two.
“I think our off-field chemistry, friendship has accelerated the on-field connection, so we talk almost every other play about something, dealing with a route,” Moore said. “You’re having fun with Josh, but when you step on the field, he’s a whole different animal, and you’ve got to lock in yourself because you know he wants to win and win bad.
“In my gut, that’s what I’m willing to do, go out there and win every rep for him, and the rest of the receivers are going to do the same thing, and it’s been fun.”
Moore’s preseason work has backed up the buzz. In limited action, he has caught three of four targets for 61 yards, including a 32-yard grab. The connection has also been easy to spot throughout training camp, giving Bills fans plenty to watch as the regular season nears.
For Buffalo, the hope is simple: this is the kind of receiver-quarterback pairing Allen hasn’t often had since arriving in Buffalo, and if it keeps growing, it could push the offense to another level.
The Bills open the 2026 season on Sunday, September 13, on the road against the Houston Texans.
