The Buffalo Bills are heading into a new era-and it’s not just about a fresh face on the sidelines. With Joe Brady stepping in as head coach, replacing Sean McDermott after a long and largely successful run, the Bills are signaling that status quo isn’t good enough anymore. And frankly, after another season that fell short of expectations, especially on the offensive side, that message is long overdue.
Josh Allen remains one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league, but even the best need help-and last season, that help just wasn’t there. The Bills' receiving corps lacked the firepower to consistently stretch defenses or provide Allen with reliable targets in crunch time.
That deficiency came back to bite them, and now, general manager Brandon Beane is staring down a pivotal offseason. Buffalo has to get aggressive.
Not just make moves-make the right ones. And there may be a golden opportunity presenting itself.
Enter A.J. Brown.
The Eagles wideout, a two-time All-Pro and one of the league’s most physically dominant receivers, is reportedly unhappy in Philadelphia and could be on the move. Brown spent much of the 2025 season visibly frustrated, and there’s growing buzz that he’s ready for a change of scenery. If that’s true-and if the Eagles are willing to move him-the Bills have to be at the front of the line.
Now, let’s talk price. According to projections, it might not take as much as you’d think to land Brown.
A suggested trade package of a third- and fifth-round pick could be enough to get it done. That’s a far cry from what the Eagles gave up to get him from Tennessee back in 2022, when they sent a first-rounder to the Titans.
But a few things have changed since then.
Brown is still a high-impact player, but he’s not coming off his best season. He struggled with drops in key moments-most notably in the Eagles’ playoff loss to San Francisco-and he’s carrying a hefty contract with $29 million in guarantees due next year.
He’s signed through 2029, which gives any acquiring team long-term control, but also adds some financial weight to the decision. Those factors could make teams hesitant to give up premium draft capital.
But for Buffalo? This is exactly the kind of swing they need to take.
A third and fifth-rounder for a receiver of Brown’s caliber is a calculated risk worth taking. He’s the kind of player who can change the dynamic of an offense overnight.
His physicality, contested catch ability, and yards-after-catch potential would give Allen the true No. 1 target he’s been missing. Pair Brown with the Bills’ existing offensive pieces, and suddenly you’ve got a unit that can go toe-to-toe with anyone in the AFC.
The Bills aren’t in rebuild mode-they’re in reload mode. And with the AFC as stacked as ever, they don’t have the luxury of waiting around for mid-round picks to develop.
They need difference-makers. Proven ones.
A.J. Brown fits that bill.
If the opportunity’s there, Buffalo shouldn’t hesitate. When the new league year kicks off in March, this is the kind of move that could define the next chapter of the Josh Allen era.
