The Broncos are continuing their search for a new offensive coordinator, and their latest interview brings a familiar face into the mix: Bills quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Ronald Curry.
Curry’s name carries weight in this conversation for a few reasons, starting with his connection to Denver head coach Sean Payton. The two worked closely during their time in New Orleans, where Curry steadily climbed the coaching ladder under Payton’s leadership. That shared history matters-especially for a coach like Payton, who values continuity and a deep understanding of his offensive philosophy.
This isn’t the first time Payton has considered bringing Curry into a bigger role. Back in 2023, there was real interest in making him the offensive coordinator. While that didn’t materialize then, the interest clearly hasn’t faded.
Curry’s coaching résumé has been steadily building since he transitioned from player to coach. After a six-year NFL career as a wide receiver with the Raiders-who drafted him in the seventh round out of North Carolina in 2002-he got his coaching start with the 49ers in 2014 as an offensive assistant. Two years later, he joined the Saints, where he began to make his mark.
By 2018, Curry had earned a promotion to wide receivers coach, and in 2021, he took over quarterback coaching duties. That role became a crucial stepping stone, sharpening his expertise in developing signal-callers and managing passing concepts. In 2024, the Bills brought him on board as their quarterbacks coach, adding passing game coordinator to his title-a sign of growing trust in his ability to oversee a modern NFL offense.
Now, with Denver in the market for a new offensive architect, Curry’s name is back in the spotlight. His familiarity with Payton’s system, combined with the experience he’s gained in Buffalo, makes him a strong candidate to help shape the Broncos' offense moving forward.
