The Buffalo Bills are looking to bounce back after a disappointing playoff exit last season. With high hopes pinned on them, especially following Josh Allen's MVP-worthy performance, their loss to the Denver Broncos in the divisional round was a tough pill to swallow.
A fresh start could come through the NFL Draft, where the Bills hold the 26th pick in the first round. While not the most coveted spot, history shows that late-round picks can still be game-changers.
Bills GM Brandon Beane, speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show,” shared insights into their draft preparation. He emphasized the thoroughness of their process, detailing the kinds of questions they pose to prospects.
“There’s been a good energy. We bring in the position coach, and I start things off to get them comfortable.
We ask questions like: Why did you come out early? Why did you transfer multiple times?
Was it for money, opportunity, or something else?” Beane explained.
Each team approaches the draft differently, and for the Bills, Beane and coach Joe Brady are leaving no stone unturned in their evaluations.
“Sometimes, we ask about past suspensions,” Beane added. “We usually know the reasons-whether it’s a weed violation or something like covering up a smoke detector in a hotel.
We want to see what they admit to. We’ve met a few guys who claim they’re done with weed.”
Brady, brought on board in February, is an offensive strategist. The Bills might be eyeing additional targets for Allen in the passing game.
Some potential picks at No. 26 include Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston and Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper.
