Bradley Chubb Joins Dolphins as They Stun Bills with Dominant Victory

Former rival Bradley Chubb joins the Buffalo Bills, aiming to transform their playoff fortunes and leverage his strengths under a new defensive scheme.

Before Week 10 of the 2025 season, the Miami Dolphins finally broke free from the Buffalo Bills' grip, ending a seven-game losing streak with a stunning 30-13 victory. For Bradley Chubb, this win was especially sweet. Drafted fifth overall in 2018 by the Denver Broncos, Chubb had faced the Bills five times before without tasting victory.

His encounters with Buffalo included a 48-19 blowout with Denver in 2020, followed by four losses with Miami: 32-29 and 34-31 in 2022, 48-20 in 2023, and 31-21 in early 2025. In those games, Chubb's defenses allowed an average of 38.6 points per game. Adding salt to the wound, Chubb watched from the sidelines due to a torn ACL as Miami fell to Buffalo three more times, including a crucial Week 18 game in 2023.

So, when the Dolphins, sitting at 2-7 and out of playoff contention, dominated the Bills at Hard Rock Stadium, the locker room was electric, as if they had just won the Super Bowl. Chubb was a standout performer, racking up 10 QB pressures and a sack, helping Miami secure only their third victory over Buffalo in 17 meetings since Josh Allen joined the Bills.

“He’s the MVP for a reason,” Chubb said of Allen postgame. “It’s just about how we respond, and I feel like we did that.”

Now, Chubb won't have to worry about facing Allen again-he's joining him in Buffalo. Chubb signed a free-agent deal with the Bills, guaranteeing him $29 million over the next three seasons.

“He is one of the best, if not the best quarterbacks in the league,” Chubb shared during a Zoom call. “Whenever you have a guy like that manning the ship, everybody believes they can win.”

Why the Bills were the right choice for Chubb

Released by Miami for salary cap reasons, Chubb had options but chose Buffalo, a team that had been a thorn in his side.

“The last few days have been hectic,” Chubb admitted. “But I felt this was the best opportunity to win. I’ve seen what it’s like to be at the Super Bowl, and I just want to win.”

Allen’s presence was a draw, but so was the new defensive scheme under coordinator Jim Leonhard, which suits Chubb’s style as a standup outside linebacker. His experience facing Buffalo also gave him insight into the team culture he was joining.

“I’ve seen how they stay together through tough times,” Chubb noted. “They just know how to win and pull out those close games.”

Can Chubb help the Bills get over the postseason hump?

Buffalo has faced heartbreak with three consecutive playoff losses by three points. Chubb believes he can be a difference-maker.

“I feel like I’m one of those pieces to help us get over the hump,” Chubb said. “I’m not promising a Super Bowl, but I know what I bring to the table.”

Chubb joins a Bills team looking for an impact edge rusher. Previous attempts, like Von Miller and Leonard Floyd, showed promise but ultimately fell short.

Chubb feels he has something to prove

Injuries have plagued Chubb’s career, including ACL tears and ankle issues, limiting him to 90 of 133 possible games.

“I’ve got a chip on my shoulder,” Chubb confessed. “Every time I start to shine, something happens.

But I know what I can do. I haven’t put too many miles on my body, and I’m excited to be a Bill.

I feel like I’m gonna hit my stride here.”
