Bills Win Set Off More Rams Fallout Than Fans Realized

Kelly Stafford comments on missed opportunities and divine plans after the Rams' narrow defeat to the Bills.

After the Los Angeles Rams’ 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, Harrison Mevis didn’t last long. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Rams moved on from the kicker nearly a day after he missed two key field goals, and the timing tells the story.

One miss came from 50 yards in the first quarter. The other, from 48 yards in overtime, would have won the game for Los Angeles in Week 5.

The misses drew attention fast, and not just from the usual football crowd. Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, appeared to take an indirect swipe at Mevis in a Friday Instagram post featuring game-day snapshots with her four daughters.

In the caption, the podcaster wrote: “God had a different plan than having that ball go through the uprights, but whatever the plan is, we trust it. The plan does, however, always include cute fits.”

The post mixed family photos with a few images of Stafford and some fit-check shots. Kelly dressed for the VIP suite in a Rams windbreaker, a black leather mini skirt and white Nike sneakers.

Her daughters - Chandler, Sawyer, Hunter and Tyler - were dressed alike, wearing off-white knit sweaters over plain white shirts with “Stafford” printed on the collar, yellow floral skirts and matching dark olive boots.

Kelly also posted about the Rams’ Week 4 trip to Philadelphia, where she stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia for the game against the Eagles. After the Rams’ 24-20 win, she shared a recap and noted that she had expected the weather to be an issue.

“More memories made in Philly and at our favorite hotel... and this time we were prepared for the rain,” Kelly wrote.

That post came three days before Kelly drew more attention around the NFL with an alarming confession about the challenges of raising her four daughters in Los Angeles.

Bills Mock Draft Outlook Highlights A Defensive Need Fans Know Too Well

The Bills enter Week 6 at 4-1 and still look like one of the AFCs most complete teams on offense, with Josh Allen driving the show as they get ready for the Raiders. The defense, though, remains the familiar concern, sitting near the bottom of the league in several areas and keeping the conversation centered on whether Buffalo will use the draft to reinforce that side of the ball.

One recent mock draft points in that direction, linking Buffalo to Notre Dame safety Brauntae Johnson with the No. 29 pick. It is only a projection at this stage, but it underscores how often the Bills are being tied to help in the secondary as the season unfolds and the front office weighs where the biggest long-term fix might be. Bills Fans Have An Unusual AFC East Rooting Interest This Week

Buffalo heads into Week 6 in a good spot, sitting atop the AFC East at 4-1 and preparing for the Raiders, but there is a small piece of scoreboard watching that could matter just as much as what happens in Las Vegas. The Jets and Patriots meet in a separate division game, and for Bills fans, the matchup carries an unusual twist: the result could shift the pecking order behind Buffalo while the Bills try to keep building separation.

It is also not a simple ask for New York. The Patriots have owned this matchup for years, and the numbers suggest the Jets are still chasing them on both sides of the ball. So while Buffalo can focus on its own game, there is a real division subplot sitting in the background, one that could either help the Bills protect their lead or leave the standings a lot tighter heading into the next stretch. Bills Passing Game Hinges On D.J. Moores Uncertain Return

D.J. Moores availability has become one of the more important subplots for Buffalo as it prepares for the Raiders, because the Bills have not gotten much from him since the shoulder injury slowed him down. Moore missed Week 5 with an AC joint issue, which snapped a streak of more than 90 straight games played, and his limited workload this season has already changed how people are viewing his role in the passing game.

The encouraging sign for Buffalo is that Moore was back on the practice field Friday, but the uncertainty remains very real. He is listed as questionable for Sunday, and even the betting markets have been adjusting around the possibility that he either suits up at less than full strength or remains hard to count on, leaving the Bills waiting to see how much of their passing plan they can actually build around him.
