NFL.com sees Bobby Wagner as a possible answer for the Buffalo Bills as they look ahead to the 2026 season.
The Bills already have a roster built to chase a Super Bowl, but NFL.com still pointed to the open market for a name that could help shore up a clear need. The remaining free-agent linebacker made the list as a fit for Buffalo, with the site focusing on what Wagner still brings at 36.
“Questioning how much the 36-year-old has left in what should be a Hall of Fame career is fair, but statistically speaking, Wagner wakes up with 100 tackles,” NFL.com said. “He’s got 14 seasons under his belt and in each one he’s hit triple digits, with 10 straight eclipsing 130. After 162 tackles last season, including 4.5 sacks, there’s run left and the Bills need an off-ball 'backer with Matt Milano gone and Terrel Bernard’s trajectory hindered by injuries.”
Wagner’s 2025 season with the Washington Commanders also included two interceptions and four passes defended. At age 35, he showed he can still make plays behind the line and affect the quarterback while holding up against the run.
That last part matters for Buffalo. The Bills were one of the league’s better pass defenses last season, but they had trouble slowing down the run. Wagner would give them a veteran presence with the kind of production that could help in that area.
There’s also a real opening at linebacker. Buffalo’s current competition next to Terrel Bernard includes Dorian Williams and fourth-round rookie Kaleb Elarms-Orr, both inexperienced options battling for the starting job in the middle.

Mike Danna Faces A Tough Bills Battle To Stick Around
Mike Danna arrived in Buffalo on a short-term deal with plenty to prove, and that is what makes his next few months so interesting. The veteran outside linebacker spent six seasons with the Chiefs before signing with the Bills in May 2026, bringing experience to a position group that already has plenty of traffic. After a 2025 season in Kansas City that was his least productive, with injury playing a part, Danna now has to show he can still be a useful piece for a defense that values depth and versatility.
The problem is the Bills do not appear to have much room for sentiment at outside linebacker. Danna is joining a crowded competition, and every practice rep matters when a roster spot is not guaranteed. For a player with his background, the path to sticking around is not about reputation or past rings, but about finding a way to stand out in a group that already includes established pass rushers and other candidates fighting for the same limited openings.
