The Bills may be headed into Monday night with a real question at receiver, and it could put even more pressure on Keon Coleman.
DJ Moore has been working through a shoulder injury since Week 2, and while he has not missed a start, he also was not able to finish Week 4 against the Patriots because of it. Joe Brady recently said that if Moore feels he is ready to go, he could suit up, but that would be a big mistake.
If Moore is limited or unavailable, Coleman is the obvious name to watch. He already showed what he can do when Moore left the game against the Lions in Week 2, finishing with 6 catches on 6 targets for 63 yards. He followed that up in Week 4 with his best performance yet, going for 6 catches, 116 yards, and a touchdown late in the fourth quarter that put the Bills ahead of New England.
Now Coleman gets another chance to build on that momentum against the Rams, but the assignment is no joke.
Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus pointed to Coleman versus cornerback Trent McDuffie as one of the top Week 5 matchups, and the numbers back up why that stands out. Locker wrote, " Coleman entered the 2026 campaign in dire need of success, and he’s obtained it.
His 81.0 PFF receiving grade is the 13th-highest among receivers with at least 15 targets, compiling 2.38 yards per route run. Coleman’s 87.5% catch rate on targets is also tied for third in the group, showcasing that he’s been effective when Josh Allen has thrown in his vicinity."
Locker also made clear what Coleman is walking into on the other side. " On the other side lurks McDuffie, who’s started his Rams career looking like his prototypical All-Pro self.
His 90.4 PFF coverage grade is tied with Ward atop the totem pole, and his 28% forced incompletion rate is third as well. McDuffie has allowed a preposterous 21.1 passer rating into his coverage thus far."
Locker added.
So yes, Coleman has been productive early and has already flashed in bigger moments. But if Moore is out and Coleman can’t get traction against McDuffie, the Bills may have to lean harder on Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir to carry the passing game. That’s a tricky path, especially with the Rams able to adjust on the fly.

James Cook Could Be Central To Buffalos Bounce-Back Against The Rams
After a frustrating loss to New England, the Bills turn their attention to a Week 5 matchup with the Rams looking for a steadier offensive rhythm, and James Cook figures to remain right in the middle of it. He has been one of Buffalos most reliable pieces through the first month, piling up 421 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 70 carries while helping keep the offense from leaning too heavily in one direction.
Cooks recent stretch has only reinforced his value, with a score on the ground in each of the past three games. ESPN Fantasy sees him continuing in a featured role against Los Angeles, projecting a workload heavy enough to shape Buffalos approach if the Bills can get back on track and establish the run early. Joe Brady Has Bills Fans Hopeful And Uneasy For One Reason
Joe Bradys first month as the Bills head coach has offered enough to fuel optimism, and just enough uneven play to keep Buffalo fans a little on edge. After the team moved on from Sean McDermott and elevated Brady for the 2026 season, the early return has been a 3-1 start through four games, a sign that the transition has gone better than many around the league might have expected. Brady has also continued working closely with Josh Allen, with an emphasis on cutting down turnovers and smoothing out the offenses rougher stretches.
But the reason this feels unfinished is the same reason it feels promising: the Bills havent yet looked fully settled under their new leader, and the recent inconsistency has left room for questions about how sustainable this start really is. Allen remains the center of everything Buffalo wants to do, and Bradys ability to clean up the mistakes without stifling the quarterbacks aggressiveness will go a long way toward determining whether this early surge turns into something sturdier over the long haul. Bills-Rams Has Extra Stakes For One Buffalo Reunion
Monday nights meeting between the Bills and Rams comes with a little extra history attached, because several players will be facing a former team. Buffalo has its own notable reunion built into the matchup, with four current Bills having once spent time in Los Angeles, a wrinkle that adds another layer to a game already carrying plenty of national attention.
One of the more intriguing names in that group is Michael Hoecht, who is now back with Buffalo after his Rams stint and the long road back from suspension and an Achilles tear. He is not the only one with ties to both sides, either, as Austin Corbett, Greg Gaines and Greg Dortch also have time in the Rams organization, giving this prime-time game a familiar feel for a few players who know both locker rooms well.
