Bills Passing Game Suddenly Hinges On One Week 5 Decision

With DJ Moore's playing status uncertain for the Bills vs. Rams matchup, the wide receiver's potential absence could heavily influence both team strategy and betting lines.

Buffalo may have to wait until Monday night to find out how much it can count on DJ Moore.

The Bills wide receiver aggravated the shoulder injury he first picked up in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions, then dealt with another setback in Week 4 against the New England Patriots. That latest flare-up cost him a lot of practice time heading into the matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, and he is officially listed as questionable.

Moore sat out the first two sessions of the week before getting in a limited practice on Saturday. With a consecutive-games streak that stretches past 90 games, there’s at least a chance he tries to go just to keep it alive.

The bigger concern for Buffalo is what Moore’s status could mean for the passing game if he’s not at full speed, or if he’s unavailable. Josh Palmer has already been ruled out for Buffalo on Monday, leaving the receiver room short-handed.

Moore’s production has tailed off since that Week 2 shoulder issue. After opening the season with 100 yards in Week 1, he has totaled just seven catches for 78 yards over his last two games. He also failed to record a catch in the Week 2 loss to Detroit.

If Moore is active, that does not guarantee normal usage. He practiced so little this week that a limited role would make sense, and that’s part of why the attention has shifted toward another Buffalo pass catcher in the betting market.

Keon Coleman looks like the name to watch. He was one of the biggest beneficiaries when Moore went down in Week 4, and he delivered his best game of the season against New England: six catches, 116 yards and his first touchdown of the year.

Coleman has also been on the field plenty when Moore has been hurt, topping 74 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in two of his four games. He has at least six receptions in both games in which Moore was injured, and his big-play ability gives him a real chance to matter again if this game opens up the way some expect.

Bills Bring A Crucial Week 5 Edge Into Rams Matchup

Monday night brings a notable injury edge into Buffalos matchup with the Rams, and the Bills will be watching the final availability report closely before kickoff. Los Angeles is dealing with a longer list of concerns, while Buffalos side of the ledger is much cleaner, a small but meaningful advantage as the Bills prepare for a prime-time test on the road.

The Rams uncertainty is centered on several familiar names who could shape both sides of the ball, while Buffalo has just one player carrying an injury designation into the game. For a Bills team trying to keep momentum in Week 5, that contrast matters as much as any prediction column or viewing guide, because the difference between a full lineup and a patched-together one can decide how much pressure Monday night really puts on each sideline. Bills Late Roster Move Puts Extra Focus On Their Secondary Depth

With the Bills heading into Week 5 against the Rams, they made a late roster adjustment that speaks to how carefully theyre managing the back end of the defense. Buffalo signed cornerback Anthony Kendall from the practice squad to the active roster, a move that adds another body to a secondary room that can always use more depth as the season settles in.

Kendall has been waiting for this chance since landing on Buffalos practice squad, and the promotion gives the Bills another look at a player with some untapped value. It also came with a corresponding roster shuffle, with the team making room by moving on from a veteran linebacker, a reminder that these September and early-October decisions are rarely just about one player at a time. Bills Suddenly Face A Depth Test On Both Sides Against Rams

The Bills are heading into their matchup with the Rams having to patch together both their offense and defense after finalizing a packed inactive list. Wide receivers Joshua Palmer and DJ Moore are out, along with defensive linemen Landon Jackson and Ed Oliver and cornerback Dee Alford, leaving Buffalo to lean on depth in a game where availability is suddenly a bigger issue than usual.

Buffalo moved quickly to cover the openings by elevating Skyler Bell, Trent Sherfield Sr., Phidarian Mathis and Anthony Kendall from the practice squad. For a team trying to keep its footing against a quality opponent, the challenge now is less about the names on the report and more about how well the reshuffled roster holds up once the game speed starts to matter.
