The Bills left Thursday night with a 2-0 record and Josh Allen still rolling at an MVP level, but the injuries to DJ Moore and Ed Oliver hung over the win against the Detroit Lions.
That uncertainty may not last long. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that both players are considered day-to-day, a promising sign after each was sidelined by a Week 2 injury. Moore exited with a shoulder injury during the game, while Oliver missed it after dealing with a hip injury in warmups.

Buffalo managed just fine without them in the short term. On offense, Allen has done a strong job spreading the ball around, which softened the blow of losing Moore against Detroit. Rapoport’s update now opens the door to a possible Week 3 return for the wideout.
On the other side of the ball, Oliver’s absence has been felt more sharply. The Bills have given up plenty of points lately, and his disruptive presence is something they clearly miss. Oliver played in only three games for Buffalo last season, but the hope is that he can get back to that difference-making form soon.
The situation has also been especially difficult for Oliver and his family after the tragic loss of their son in a pool accident. The franchise has continued to support Oliver and his family through that time.
If Moore and Oliver are able to return quickly, they would add another layer to a Bills team already looking like one of the AFC’s most complete groups. Allen and the rest of the roster are still chasing the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance since the 1993 season.
