The Buffalo Bills are moving on from center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, sending the former Georgia standout to the Indianapolis Colts in a deal that also changes their draft stock and trims their cap bill.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported early Sunday morning that Buffalo was sending Van Pran-Granger to Indianapolis just hours before the regular-season cut deadline of 6pm ET. Pelissero said, "Trade! The Bills are sending C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger to the Colts, per source," just after 9am ET.
As part of the swap, the Colts are also getting a 2027 7th-round draft pick. Buffalo will receive a 2027 6th-round draft pick in return.
Van Pran-Granger’s time in Buffalo ends after two seasons. The Bills selected him in the 5th round in 2024 with the idea that he could eventually become either the backup center or the long-term answer if Connor McGovern moved on.
That path changed when McGovern re-signed this past March. At that point, Van Pran-Granger looked positioned to settle in as the backup. But Buffalo also brought in veteran Lloyd Cushenberry in free agency, and that created a real battle for the job.
McGovern’s preseason injury only pushed the competition further in Cushenberry’s direction. He started Buffalo’s preseason games, and that appeared to seal the picture for Van Pran-Granger.
Rather than cut him, Brandon Beane worked out a trade and picked up draft capital in the process.
For Van Pran-Granger, the move gives him a cleaner shot at the backup center role in Indianapolis, with a possible path to starting down the line.
The 24-year-old is in the third year of his rookie contract. He is due $1.075 million this season and $1.19 million in 2027. By making the trade, Buffalo clears $1.075 million in cap space and takes on a dead cap hit of $88,813 this season and next.
