The Buffalo Bills found themselves with more good interior-line options than jobs on Sunday, and that surplus led to a move before final roster cuts were due.
Buffalo agreed to send former 2024 fifth-round pick Sedrick Van Pran Granger and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Van Pran Granger had made a case for himself over the summer. He played well in the first two preseason games and got more reps after starting center Connor McGovern went down with a hamstring injury and missed most of camp. Even so, veteran free agent Lloyd Cushenberry settled into the top backup center spot with steady work while McGovern was out, and that left Van Pran Granger without a clean path to a role.
Buffalo also gave the 24-year-old looks at guard this year, but rookie Armaj Reed-Adams’ strong summer likely pushed the decision toward a trade. The picture got even tighter when veteran Alec Anderson beat out Austin Corbett for the starting left guard job this week. With Corbett and Cushenberry already set as the main interior reserves, Van Pran Granger became the odd man out.
The Bills are continuing to trim the roster to 53 players. Tackle Da’Metrius Weatherspoon was waived Sunday morning, and the team also said rookie undrafted free agent Bruno Fina and center Sincere Hanesworth were among the 13 players released Saturday.
Van Pran Granger’s time in Buffalo was limited. He started only two games in two seasons with the Bills, both coming as late-season audition starts when Buffalo rested most of its starters. At Georgia, though, he was a centerpiece, starting 44 games and helping the Bulldogs win national titles in 2021 and 2022.

Damar Hamlin emerged ahead in that mix, leaving Stone on the outside looking in as the Bills set their roster.
