The Buffalo Bills have lost linebacker Andre Jones Jr. to an AFC East opponent, and the move creates an immediate opening on Buffalo’s practice squad.
Miami is signing Jones off the Bills’ practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. That transaction moves him onto the Dolphins’ 53-man roster, giving him a shot to suit up during the regular season.
Jones brings special teams value, and Miami is adding him to work with special teams coordinator Chris Tabor. Tabor spent last season in Buffalo as the Bills’ special teams coordinator under former head coach Sean McDermott.
For Buffalo, the departure ends a stint that lasted the last year and a half. Jones, a seventh-round pick by Washington in 2023, signed with the Bills in August 2025.
He appeared in three regular-season games in 2025 and recorded five tackles. In those appearances, Jones contributed on both sides of the ball, logging 38 defensive snaps and 44 on special teams.
Jones was among Buffalo’s final roster cuts ahead of this season and was brought right back onto the practice squad soon after.
Now the Bills have to replace him there, though that spot likely won’t stay open for long. Buffalo has typically moved quickly to fill practice squad vacancies.
The team also has another roster call coming soon. Frank Gore Jr. and Greg Dortch were elevated in each of Buffalo’s first two games, and NFL rules allow only three elevations per player before a decision must be made on moving them to the 53-man roster.
