The Buffalo Bills head to Allegiant Stadium for a Week 6 matchup that sits one win away from their bye, and the setup looks awfully lopsided in a few key spots. Buffalo is 4-1 and sitting among the AFC’s elite in Joe Brady’s first season as head coach, and a win over the Las Vegas Raiders would push them to 5-1.
The most glaring edge may come on the ground. Scott Barrett of Fantasy Points pointed to what he called a major trench mismatch: Buffalo owns the best run-blocking offensive line by running back yards before contact, while Las Vegas ranks worst in run-defending defensive lines by that same metric.
“This might be the biggest mismatch I've ever seen: Buffalo's OLine vs. Las Vegas' DLine

That sets up a strong Sunday for James Cook, who is already a must-start fantasy option and could be in line for his biggest numbers of the season.
The Raiders’ defense comes in bruised and vulnerable after a Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots. Drake Maye had all kinds of time in the pocket and made the most of it, completing 26-of-34 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-17 Patriots win. If Buffalo can give Josh Allen similar comfort, he should have room to get his mechanics right and find plenty of success.
Las Vegas will also be shorthanded up front. Defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway has been ruled out with a concussion, and that only adds to a run defense that has already struggled.
Malcolm Koonce, a former University at Buffalo star, is set to play, though he showed up on Friday’s injury report with an elbow issue.
The biggest individual threat for Buffalo still comes from Maxx Crosby. Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown will have the job of keeping Crosby away from Allen on Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders’ receiver group doesn’t bring much intimidation, with Tre Tucker and Jalen Nailor leading the depth chart. But Brock Bowers is a different story.
The tight end is a true problem for defenses, with the kind of hands that let him win against cornerbacks, safeties and linebackers alike. Buffalo, coming off a week in which Puka Nacua embarrassed them, will need to deal with a very different sort of weapon this time.
Las Vegas will have Ashton Jeanty available, and the running back said he feels “great” going into the game. Still, injuries to his foot and ankle have slowed him this season, and he is averaging 3.3 yards per carry. Even with his talent, he may run into a Buffalo defense that has been surprisingly strong against the run.

Former Bills Starter Faces Buffalo With Plenty To Prove
Taron Johnson spent years building his reputation in Buffalo after being drafted by the Bills in 2018, and his run with the team included one of the most memorable defensive plays of that era, a 101-yard interception return in the 2021 playoffs. This offseason, though, his path changed when the Bills moved on and he landed with the Las Vegas Raiders, setting up a return trip to the place where he made so many of his biggest memories.
Now Johnson gets a chance to line up against his old team with a little extra motivation in the mix, and it is the kind of matchup that tends to carry more weight for a veteran cornerback. The Bills know his game well, and Johnson will be looking to make an impact in a new uniform while trying to turn this reunion into a statement game. [Read more 🡒]
Bills Defense Has A Bradley Chubb Problem Fans Will Debate
The moment between the Bills and Rams got tense fast when Los Angeles lineman Alaric Jackson punched linebacker Bradley Chubb, turning a routine on-field exchange into the kind of sideline-scrambling flare-up that can linger well beyond one game. Buffalo defensive tackle Deone Walker stepped in to pull Chubb away, and while Jackson was eventually suspended, then had the punishment reduced, Chubb was left without any discipline of his own.
For Buffalo, the bigger issue is what comes next for a defense still trying to tighten up and move on from the incident. Chubbs place in that mix is part of the conversation now, because the Bills need him available and engaged as they focus on improving on that side of the ball, even as fans continue to debate how the episode should be remembered. Josh Allen Faces A Bills Test That Could Decide This Clash
Josh Allens latest showcase against the Rams was the kind of performance that reminds everyone how hard Buffalo is to defend when he gets rolling. The quarterback leaned into the same under-center play-action looks that have become a staple of the offense, and those designs have been especially productive for him this season, with strong success both as a passer and as a runner when the Bills build off the fake.
The Raiders present a different kind of problem, though, because their defense has already been vulnerable to under-center play action while still bringing heat from all over the formation. Maxx Crosby remains the headliner up front, often lining up on the left edge and creating disruption even when offenses send help his way, which puts Allen in the middle of the kind of matchup that can shape the entire night for Buffalo.
