The Bills are getting a notable health boost for their Week 3 matchup with the Chargers.
After dealing with injuries coming out of their Week 2 win over the Lions, Buffalo entered Sunday with four players listed as questionable. Three of them are set to go, with Keon Coleman, DJ Moore, and Ed Oliver all active.
Coleman’s status was trending in the right direction earlier in the day, when Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reported that he was expected to play. That was followed by reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Moore, who sprained his AC joint in Week 2, was expected to suit up. Ian Rapoport then reported that Oliver would also play after being a last-minute inactive in Week 2 because of a hip injury suffered in pre-game warmups.
Buffalo’s final inactive list for the game includes WR Skyler Bell, S Jalon Kilgore, OLB Mike Danna, OL Ar'maj Reed-Adams, OL Jude Bowry, and DL T.J. Sanders.
Bell was the player who stood to benefit most if Coleman or Moore had been unable to go, since he would have made his NFL debut. Instead, he’ll remain on the sideline for now.
Oliver’s return gives Buffalo another piece up front alongside Deone Walker and Greg Rousseau, with the Bills hoping that group can make life difficult for Justin Herbert.
Two players were already known to be out heading into the week: S Jordan Hancock, who is on IR, and T.J. Sanders, who had an appendectomy on Tuesday, according to Chris Brown.
Even with Coleman, Moore, and Oliver available, the Bills would be wise to handle them carefully, especially Moore. He hasn’t missed a game since 2020, and while his toughness isn’t in question, it still makes sense for Buffalo to be cautious this early in the season and keep him limited if needed.
