Bills Face A Risky DJ Moore Decision Before Monday Night

With DJ Moore's shoulder injury raising concerns, the Bills face a crucial decision on whether to prioritize immediate wins or long-term strategy in their primetime matchup.

Joe Brady and the Bills are staring at a tricky call with DJ Moore, and the wrong answer could turn one sore shoulder into a much bigger problem.

Moore has been working through a shoulder injury since Week 2, when he took the hit against the Detroit Lions in the first half and came down hard on it. At the time, it looked like the kind of injury that could sideline him for a while. Instead, the diagnosis was an AC joint sprain - the best-case outcome given the way it happened.

Even so, the shoulder hasn’t really let him off the hook. In Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Moore had to leave the field multiple times to get attention for it on the sideline.

Then in Week 4 against the New England Patriots, he wasn’t able to finish the game after re-aggravating it. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the injury wasn’t considered long-term “as of right now.”

That’s not exactly a green light for Week 5.

The Bills would be smart to slow this down and think beyond one primetime game against the Los Angeles Rams. Moore’s toughness isn’t in question - he hasn’t missed a start since 2020, when he was with the Carolina Panthers, and he’s played every game since then.

That kind of durability is rare for a wide receiver. But durability only matters if the player can actually stay on the field and help.

Brady addressed the situation Thursday and said that if Moore feels good enough to go, the Bills should respect that. As Jon Scott of WGRZ reported, Brady said that if " he [Moore] feels he's healthy enough to play, he owes it to the WR to let him be out there."

Brady adds he knows how Moore elevates offense. #Bills HC also notes upcoming bye week as time he could get extra rest.

That line tells you Brady understands what Moore means to the offense. It also suggests the Bills may be leaning toward giving him a shot. But that would come with real risk.

Buffalo already saw what happens when Moore tries to play through this and then has to come out again. The offense had to adjust against New England, and it didn’t handle that adjustment well. Meanwhile, Keon Coleman has shown he can step up when Moore isn’t available, which makes the case for caution even stronger.

The Bills do have time before Monday night to make a decision, and the upcoming bye week gives them an obvious window for extra rest. That’s why the safest move is pretty clear: let Moore sit out against the Rams if there’s any doubt at all.

One missed game is a small price if it keeps him healthy for the stretch ahead. If Buffalo pushes him back too soon and he’s nowhere near 100 percent, it could become a costly mistake that lingers well beyond Week 5.

Bills Offense Has A Growing Problem Defenses Keep Exploiting

The Bills opened the season looking like one of the leagues most efficient offenses, but the last stretch has exposed how quickly things can tilt when defenses start finding answers. Josh Allens recent turnovers have been part of the issue, yet the dip has gone beyond one player. Buffalo has also watched Dalton Kincaid, who gave the passing game an early boost, get effectively taken out of the plan over the last two games.

Joe Brady has made it clear the fix has to come from everyone, not just the quarterback, which is where the challenge gets bigger for Buffalo. If opposing defenses are squeezing Allens options and limiting Kincaids impact at the same time, the Bills need more consistent support across the offense to get back to the level they showed in September and early October. Josh Allen Faces A Growing MVP Concern Bills Fans Will Feel

Josh Allen still sits near the top of the NFL MVP race, but the margin is getting tighter as the season moves along. A mix of quieter recent performances, a knee injury and a dip in his rushing volume have all played into a shift at the sportsbooks, where his odds have shortened just enough to make the chase feel more real than it did a few weeks ago.

For Bills fans, the bigger concern is not just the award board but what it says about Allens overall rhythm and health. Interceptions have crept into the conversation, and with Brock Purdy and Trevor Lawrence gaining ground, traders and analysts are watching every snap for signs that Allen can stabilize before the race becomes a full-blown sprint. Bills Face A Rams Shift That Could Decide Monday Night

Matthew Staffords tape is still worth the Bills full attention heading into Monday night, because the Rams passing game has shown how much it can change when the pocket starts to close. Buffalo will also have to sort through a Los Angeles offense that has leaned on Kyren Williams as more than a runner, using him as a receiving option to keep drives moving and make the structure of the defense work a little harder.

On the other side, the Rams defense has been built around a steady dose of Cover 1 man coverage, with safety Trent McDuffie playing at a high level and Byron Young emerging as the top edge threat off the outside. For Buffalo, the matchup is less about one isolated wrinkle than the way all those pieces fit together, because the Rams have enough shifting parts to make Monday night feel like a test of patience as much as execution.
