Tyson Etienne Reacts After Breakout Night In Tough Nets Loss

Brooklyn Nets guard Tyson Etienne reflects on his standout 18-point performance against the Trail Blazers, highlighting his growth from the G League to the NBA stage.

Brooklyn Nets' Two-Way guard Tyson Etienne has been making waves this season, honing his craft with the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League affiliate. Etienne's hard work paid off as he became the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Now, he's translating that success to the NBA as the Nets navigate the end of a challenging season.

After a tough 134-99 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Etienne shared his mindset: "Honestly, it's about playing hard and giving maximum effort. Coach Jordi Fernandez emphasizes smart effort too." Etienne led the Nets with 18 points, adding four assists, shooting an efficient 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in just 24 minutes.

"Being in the right spot and understanding the game is key," Etienne continued. "We aim to give everything while staying sharp mentally. Every game is about energy and positioning."

At 26, Etienne is averaging 5.9 points per game, shooting 41.8% overall and an impressive 43.9% from three in 16 games this season. His recent performances have caught attention, with March numbers showing 10.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, boasting shooting splits of 46.2/47.7/87.5. He's hit double figures in four out of eight games this month.

Holding one of Brooklyn's three Two-Way spots alongside forwards EJ Liddell and Chaney Johnson, Etienne's relentless effort every time he hits the floor is evident. With increased NBA playing time, the former Wichita State standout is showcasing the skills he sharpened in the G League, proving his growth and potential at the highest level.
