Nolan Traore Is Drawing Attention Nets Fans Did Not Expect

Nolan Traore's unique Rookie Debut Patch card breaks new ground in the NBA memorabilia market, garnering significant attention and a lucrative sale price.

Nolan Traore has become the first NBA player to see his one-of-one Rookie Debut Patch autograph card sell, and the number attached to it was eye-catching: $26,100.

According to Card Ladder, the card went through an eBay auction that drew 75 bids before closing on Sunday, August 16, at 5:30 p.m. DCSports87, a major eBay consignor, listed the card.

What sold, though, was the redemption, not the physical card itself. The buyer will need to enter the code and wait for the actual card to be delivered.

Traore was the 19th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The French native entered the league at 19 and appeared in 31 starts for the Brooklyn Nets.

Before making the jump to the NBA, Traore had been playing professionally in France since 2021, beginning with Centre Fédéral and later finishing his overseas career with Saint-Quentin before declaring for the draft.

The 6-foot-3 point guard wrapped up his rookie season in Brooklyn with nearly nine points per game and almost four assists per game. Specifically, he finished at 8.9 points and 3.8 assists a night.

Rookie Debut Patches are small patches worn by players in their first MLB or NBA game, then turned into unique autographed cards. Topps introduced the first version of these cards in 2023 with Topps Chrome Update.

For years, MLB was the most visible home for these kinds of cards, but that’s changing as Fanatics continues building out licensing for the NFL and NBA. Topps also has Debut Patches in MLS and Formula 1, with FIFA World Cup releases planned for 2031.

The best-known Rookie Debut Patch card remains Paul Skenes. A young collector in California pulled that card, and after it earned a PSA GEM MT 10 with a 10 autograph grade, Fanatics Collect sold it for $1.11 million. Dick's House of Sport in Pittsburgh bought it.

Not every Debut Patch has to belong to a future superstar to make noise. Traore’s card cleared $25,000 even though his rookie production was modest and his 3.8 assists per game reflected the pass-first profile scouts expected.

The biggest NBA Debut Patch pull so far belongs to Cooper Flagg. Some already view him as the future face of the NBA, and the source notes that his card will surely pass Skenes' $1.11 million on the open market.

Nets Face A Defining Identity Test Around Randle And Porter Jr

Brooklyns rebuild has taken a more veteran-leaning turn since 2024, with Julius Randle, Moritz Wagner and Keon Ellis all brought in to help stabilize a roster still trying to define what it wants to be. For Jordi Fernndez, the challenge is less about collecting talent than finding a workable blend, especially with Michael Porter Jr. coming off a strong individual season but still looking like a tricky fit alongside the young core.

Porter gives the Nets a scoring presence they cant ignore, yet his style has not always meshed cleanly with what Brooklyn has been building around him. That leaves the organization staring at a familiar kind of offseason and in-season crossroads, one where the long-term shape of the roster may hinge on whether the current mix is truly sustainable or whether another major move is coming. Nets Schedule Has A Few Early Tests Fans Will Circle Fast

The Nets full 2026-27 schedule gives fans an early look at just how much attention this group could draw, starting with a home opener against the Charlotte Hornets. Brooklyn will also open a new chapter with No. 6 pick Mikel Brown Jr. joining the roster and Julius Randle arriving after the trade from Minnesota, two additions that should make the first weeks of the season feel different right away.

There are plenty of dates for the Barclays Center crowd to circle beyond the opener, too, with four meetings against the Knicks and another matchup against Philadelphia on the slate. One of the most intriguing stops comes at Target Center, where the Wolves will host Brooklyn in a game that should carry extra meaning given the trade that sent Randle to the Nets. [Read more 🡒]

Julius Randle Has Nets Fans Debating How Far This Team Can Go

Julius Randles arrival has given Nets fans plenty to think about as the East reshuffles around them. With star movement sending big names to Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington, Indiana and Miami, Brooklyn suddenly looks like one of the teams whose ceiling is getting debated in real time rather than guessed at from a distance.

A recent fan poll only added to the conversation, since the question is no longer whether the Nets are relevant, but how far they can push in a conference that has changed quickly this offseason. Randle gives the roster a different kind of weight, and now the discussion around Brooklyn is turning from the move itself to the bigger question it created about the win total and what kind of season might be waiting.
