Nets Rookie Egor Demin Climbs Back Into Top 10 For One Big Reason

Egor Demins recent surge has not only silenced early-season doubts but also vaulted the Nets rookie back into the NBAs top-10 rookie spotlight.

Egor Demin Finding His Footing: Nets Rookie Starting to Shine

It’s been a season of growth for Brooklyn Nets rookie Egor Demin - and over the past few games, we’re starting to see the 19-year-old guard put it all together. After a rocky outing earlier this month, Demin has responded with the kind of poise and production that’s turning heads around the league.

Let’s rewind for a second. On December 12 in Dallas, Demin had one of those nights that remind you he’s still just a teenager adjusting to the NBA grind - 1-of-7 from the field, just three points, and not much of an impact.

Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez didn’t sugarcoat it; it wasn’t Demin’s best showing. But since then?

The rookie out of BYU has flipped the script.

Over his last four games, Demin’s averaging 16.8 points on a sharp 48.9% shooting clip, including 42.4% from beyond the arc. That’s not just a bounce-back - that’s a young player starting to find his rhythm in the league.

And Tuesday night in Philadelphia might’ve been his most complete performance yet.

In a 114-106 win over the Sixers, Demin poured in 20 points, grabbed two boards, and dished out five assists. He was efficient (6-of-11 from the field, 5-of-9 from deep), confident, and composed - three traits you don’t always get from a 19-year-old playing on the road against an Eastern Conference contender.

More importantly, Demin showed up when the Nets needed him most. With Michael Porter Jr. leading the way with 28 points, Demin stepped into a secondary scoring role and delivered - 15 of his 20 points came in the second half, along with two key assists that helped Brooklyn close the door on a tough Philly squad.

After the game, Demin was quick to credit his teammates:

“My teammates help me with that pretty much,” he said.

“I’m really grateful for them and for their trust for me to be able to take those shots. Their screens, their passes, that’s what gets me in those positions.”

That humility is part of what makes Demin such an intriguing prospect. He’s not forcing the issue.

He’s playing within the flow of the offense, taking smart shots, and making the right reads. And when his number is called, he’s starting to deliver with consistency.

For the season, Demin’s numbers - 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game on 39.6% shooting from the field and 36.5% from three - are solid for a rookie. But his recent surge is what’s really moving the needle. Over the last four games, he’s not just producing - he’s impacting winning, and that’s what separates promising rookies from future stars.

It’s no surprise he’s climbed back into the top-10 of the NBA’s rookie ladder after briefly falling out. The tools have always been there: size, shooting touch, feel for the game. Now, the confidence and consistency are catching up.

Brooklyn’s season has had its ups and downs, but the emergence of Demin as a reliable contributor is one of the more encouraging developments. He’s proving he belongs - and if this recent stretch is any indication, he’s just getting started.
