Nets Make Sudden Signing Amid Injury Chaos

In a strategic move amid a wave of injuries, the Brooklyn Nets boost their roster by signing Trevon Scott to a 10-day contract via a hardship exemption.

The Brooklyn Nets are wrapping up a challenging 2025-26 NBA season, and injuries have played a significant role in their journey. As they approach the final stretch, the Nets are exploring their roster depth by adding forward Trevon Scott on a 10-day contract. This move, highlighted by HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, comes via a hardship exemption, allowing the Nets to temporarily expand their roster beyond the usual 15-player limit due to their injury woes.

The NBA's hardship exemption is a lifeline for teams like Brooklyn, dealing with a slew of injuries. As ESPN's Bobby Marks explains, this exemption is applicable when multiple players are sidelined for extended periods. For the Nets, this includes rookie Egor Demin and backup center Day'Ron Sharpe, both out for the season, along with forwards Michael Porter Jr. and Danny Wolf, who have missed several games.

Trevon Scott, at 29, has been performing well with the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League affiliate. He's been averaging 12.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, shooting 44.9% from the field and 35.2% from beyond the arc. His addition to the roster could see him through to the season's end, with Brooklyn's last game against the Toronto Raptors on April 12.

Scott's signing might also suggest that Danny Wolf's return this season is uncertain as he recovers from an ankle sprain. If Wolf doesn't make it back, he concludes his rookie campaign with averages of 8.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, shooting 40.5% from the field and 32.2% from three-point range. The Nets are clearly looking to make the most of their remaining games, evaluating talent and planning for the future amidst a season riddled with challenges.
