Nets Get Encouraging DayRon Sharpe Update

Brooklyn Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe shares promising insights on his recovery journey following thumb surgery, highlighting a season of personal growth and optimism for his return.

Brooklyn Nets fans have been eagerly watching the progress of Day'Ron Sharpe, who was on track for a career-best season before an unfortunate UCL tear in his left thumb sidelined him. The injury required surgery, keeping him off the court since the Nets' victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on March 9.

In a recent update during a game against the Charlotte Hornets, Sharpe shared some promising news about his recovery. "I feel pretty good...

Rehab is going smooth. I can't wait to get back on the court full-time," he said, expressing optimism and determination.

Sharpe's growth this season has been evident, and he credits his development to increased confidence with the ball. "Just comfortable with the ball.

Making decisions with the ball, putting the ball on the ground, passes, three-point shooting," he explained to YES Network's Sarah Kustok. This newfound confidence is something he's eager to build on over the summer.

The 24-year-old has been a reliable presence as the backup center to Nic Claxton, posting averages of 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, with impressive shooting percentages of 60.1% from the field and 67.8% from the line. Since the start of 2026, Sharpe elevated his game, averaging 10.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, while maintaining strong shooting numbers.

With Sharpe out, head coach Jordi Fernandez has had to adjust, leaning on Claxton and others like Noah Clowney, rookie Danny Wolf, and Two-Way player Chaney Johnson to fill the gap. Although the Nets haven't released an official timeline for Sharpe's return, his positive outlook suggests he's on the right track for a strong comeback next season.
