Nets' Egor Demin Gears Up for a Crucial Summer Challenge

Brooklyn Nets rookie Egor Demin sets his sights on a pivotal summer, aiming to recover and shine in the upcoming NBA Summer League.

The Brooklyn Nets have decided to give rookie Egor Demin some much-needed downtime to recover from a foot injury, with an eye on his future contributions. While this means he’s out for the rest of the season, the real focus is on getting him ready for a pivotal summer.

Demin is gearing up for a busy July, as he’ll be a key player for the Nets in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. He’s no stranger to intense summers, having navigated busy off-seasons before, but this one feels different for him.

Reflecting on past summers, Demin shared, “I haven’t really had a complete summer in a while. The last time was before I went to BYU, and even then, I was moving from Madrid to Utah, which was quite stressful.”

This time around, Demin feels more settled and prepared. “I know exactly where I’m going to be and what I’ll be doing throughout the summer. That gives me confidence in my development,” he explained.

Demin is viewing this upcoming summer as a crucial period in his career. “This summer is probably one of the most important in my life,” he stated, recognizing the opportunity to focus solely on his growth as a player.

Last year’s summer was a whirlwind for Demin, filled with the draft, pre-draft workouts, and dealing with his injury. Now, with a clear path ahead, he’s excited about what’s to come.

“It’s hard to call last year a summer, but I’m really excited about this one. It’s already started for me,” he said.

This downtime might just be a blessing in disguise, allowing Demin to fine-tune his skills and prepare for the NBA level. “Not many players get the chance to prepare for summer workouts like this. I’m trying to be intentional with every opportunity I have,” he emphasized.

Throughout the season, Demin averaged 10.3 points per game and played 25.2 minutes a night. His impressive 38.5% shooting from beyond the arc has made him a valuable asset alongside Michael Porter Jr. for the Nets. As he looks ahead, Demin is poised to make the most of this summer and elevate his game to new heights.
