Josh Minott is making waves in his fourth NBA season, aiming to establish himself as a key player with the Brooklyn Nets. After being traded from the Boston Celtics, Minott is seizing the opportunity to shine on a rebuilding team.
In Thursday's matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, Minott delivered a standout performance despite the Nets' 108-97 loss. The 6-foot-8 forward, who played a crucial role with the team missing several key players, scored a career-high 24 points.
He was efficient, shooting 6-of-9 from the field, 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. He also contributed defensively with three steals and three blocks in just 24 minutes on the court.
Reflecting on his performance, Minott credited his teammates: “I owe basically everything to them. They found me on my cuts and really helped me understand our team dynamics and plays.” His transition to Brooklyn required a significant mental adjustment, but his teammates have been instrumental in speeding up that process.
Minott joined the Nets at the trade deadline, with the Celtics offloading his salary to avoid the luxury tax. Earlier this season, the 23-year-old showed potential with Boston, averaging 6.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and shooting 50.8 percent from the field in his first 27 games.

With a seven-foot wingspan and impressive athleticism, Minott has made his mark as a defensive asset. His ability to shoot from three and drive to the rim adds valuable two-way potential to the Nets' roster.
His recent game saw him achieve career highs in both made threes and combined steals and blocks. “I've been waiting on it,” Minott said of his breakout performance. He remains focused on maintaining his rhythm and positively impacting the team without disrupting their established flow.
As the Nets continue their rebuilding phase, Minott will have plenty of chances to prove his value. The team has shut down several players for the season, including Egor Demin and Day'Ron Sharpe, opening the door for Minott to step up.
Looking ahead, Brooklyn holds a $2.58 million team option on Minott for next season, giving him an added incentive to showcase his skills and secure his place on the team.
