The Brooklyn Nets have leaned heavily on Michael Porter Jr. this season, counting on him to be their standout player. Unfortunately, he's been sidelined with a sprained ankle, leaving fans eager for updates on his return.
Before the Nets faced off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, head coach Jordi Fernandez provided some insights into Porter’s recovery status.
Porter has truly shone during the 2025-26 season. Known previously as a key third option with the Denver Nuggets, he’s now emerged as the leading force for the Nets.
While Brooklyn might not top the Eastern Conference, Porter’s contributions have kept them competitive. His absence has certainly been felt on the offensive end.
The good news is that Porter seems to be on the mend. Coach Fernandez shared that Porter is making progress, participating in form shooting before the last game, and gearing up for his first full workout.
"He did form shooting (before) the last game that we played, and today is going to be his first workout. So let’s see how he feels after it’s getting better, and then we’ll assess," Fernandez explained.
As the season winds down, the Nets are eager to have Porter back on the court. While there’s chatter about a potential offseason move, for now, Brooklyn fans are hopeful to see him in action again soon.
