A strange little scene from Fenway Park stole part of the spotlight during Tuesday night’s Red Sox-Angels game, as a fan was caught on video appearing to send money through Cash App during a raunchy exchange on his phone.
The clip, recorded by someone seated behind him, shows what looks like a private conversation unfolding while the game was going on. In the blurry footage, the fan appears to tell a woman that he is at a ball game before sending $50. Another frame seems to show a video sent from the other side of the exchange, though the image is hard to make out.
The account that posted the clip pointed out the timing with a simple caption: “Mid Redsox game is crazy 😂,” they wrote.
Reactions came quickly online. “He is enjoying the last days of his life,” one fan wrote in the comments.
The video shows a completed $50 payment on the phone screen, and the person filming from behind had a clear enough angle to catch both the message and the transfer. What the footage does not show is why the money was sent or what kind of relationship the fan had with the recipient. It only captures the exchange as it happened, and that was enough to turn it into a viral moment viewed more than 130,000 times in just a few hours.
On the field, the Red Sox had a much rougher night. Boston came in riding a five-game winning streak, but Los Angeles rolled to a 6-1 win and snapped it.
Reid Detmers shut down the Red Sox for six scoreless innings, striking out nine and allowing only one hit while throwing 112 pitches. The Angels finished with 15 hits, while Boston managed only four.
