Boston College faced a tough challenge in their home opener, as No. 12 Virginia Tech showcased their prowess with decisive wins.

In a spirited showdown at Harrington Athletics Village, the Boston College Eagles faced off against the formidable No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies in their home opener. Despite their best efforts, the Eagles fell short in both games of the doubleheader, with scores of 11-0 and 14-4.

Boston College came out swinging, showing determination at the plate with hits from Adriana Martinez and Tavye Borders in the second inning. Emma Knight added pressure on the Hokies' defense by reaching first on an error, but the Eagles couldn’t convert these opportunities into runs.

The second game saw a more competitive start for the Eagles. Martinez delivered an RBI single down the left field, bringing Kae DePerio home.

Horn capitalized on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 3-2 after the first inning. Martinez continued her strong performance with a homer in the third, driving in Ptak and securing two RBIs.

However, the Hokies' offense proved relentless, adding six runs across the fifth and sixth innings. Virginia Tech maintained their momentum, ultimately taking the game 14-4 and completing the sweep of the doubleheader.
