Boston College looks to gain ground in the final round at Palmas del Mar after a steady showing leaves the Eagles mid-pack through 36 holes.

Boston College Men's Golf Holds Steady at Palmas del Mar, Yin and Pogorelc Lead the Way

HUMACAO, P.R. - With two rounds in the books at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate, Boston College Men’s Golf finds itself in ninth place, posting back-to-back team scores of 291 to sit at 6-over par through 36 holes.

Freshman Tony Yin continues to set the pace for the Eagles. After opening with a sharp 69, Yin followed it up with a 1-over 73 on Monday, putting him in a tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard. The freshman’s poise has been evident all week, and he’s showing the kind of consistency you love to see from a young player stepping into the collegiate spotlight.

Right behind him is senior Jack Pogorelc, who bounced back in a big way after a 76 in the first round. He fired a team-best 3-under 69 on Monday, climbing into a tie for 19th.

The highlight of his round? A statement-making eagle on the par-5 third hole - the kind of swing that can flip momentum and set the tone for a strong finish.

Sophomore Tommy Mangan has been steady through two rounds, carding a 72 and 74 to sit at 2-over and in a five-way tie for 36th place. He’s been grinding through the middle of the pack, and a strong final round could give him a solid boost up the leaderboard.

Further down the lineup, junior Markus Lam (76-77) and freshman Connor Chisum (80-75) are currently in 76th and 77th place, respectively. Chisum shaved five strokes off his opening round, showing some resilience as he continues to adjust to the demands of collegiate play.

The Eagles will look to close strong in Tuesday’s final round as they wrap up play at Palmas del Mar Flamboyan - a par-72, 7,117-yard layout that has tested every part of their game so far.

Leaderboard Snapshot:

  • Team Leaderboard: TCU and Wake Forest are battling it out at the top, with Rhode Island, Southern Illinois, and UNCG rounding out the top five.
  • Individual Leaderboard: Wake Forest’s Tom Haberer and Kennesaw State’s Shaun Cook are tied at 9-under to lead the field, followed closely by TCU’s Jack Beauchamp at 7-under.

Boston College may be sitting outside the top tier for now, but with Yin and Pogorelc trending in the right direction, there's still a chance to make some noise before the final putt drops in Puerto Rico.
