Pitt got things rolling early, scoring in the first inning. However, Boston College wasted no time responding.
The top of the second inning saw the Eagles rally with three runs, sparked by Katelyn Deguire's single. Tavye Borders stepped up with an RBI double, followed by Kae DePerio's savvy base running, which allowed Borders to dash home after DePerio stole second.
Pitt answered back with three runs of their own, reclaiming the lead.
Abby Ptak electrified the Eagles' offense in the third inning, launching a homer over the scoreboard to knot the game at 4-4. Borders then contributed with a sacrifice fly, bringing Janis Espinoza across the plate for another run.
The fourth inning was a back-and-forth affair. Boston College added three runs off hits from Sammy Horn, Ptak, Espinoza, and Deguire. Yet, Pitt wasn't backing down, adding four runs to edge ahead 9-8.
In the sixth inning, the Eagles managed to tie it up once more with singles from Emma Knight, Ptak, and Adrina Martinez. But Pitt responded decisively, scoring three more runs to clinch the game at 12-9.
Throughout the series, Boston College showcased their power, hitting a home run in each game against Pitt. Abby Ptak was a standout performer, going 3-for-3 and hitting her fourth homer of the season.
Looking ahead, the Eagles will return to Harrington Athletics Village for their home opener on March 27, where they will face No. 14 Virginia Tech in a three-game series. Fans can catch all the action on ACCNX.
