Boston College Women's Golf Team Shines at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational
In a competitive field at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, the Boston College Women's Golf team delivered an impressive performance, securing a fourth-place finish with a total score of 893 (294-297-302). The event took place at the picturesque Great Waters Golf Club in Greensboro, Georgia, a par-72 course stretching over 7,400 yards.
Leading the charge for BC was senior Cynthia Zhang, who showcased her consistency and skill throughout the tournament. Zhang finished in 14th place with rounds of 75, 72, and 75, ending 6-over par. Her steady play set a strong example for the team.
Following closely was her sister, freshman Joyce Zhang, who not only demonstrated her potential but also her poise under pressure. Joyce finished in 18th place at 7-over par, highlighted by eight birdies across the three rounds. Her performance kept her within the top 20, a promising sign for her future contributions to the team.
Graduate student Tiffany Cao was another standout, recording the most birdies for BC with nine. Despite a challenging final round, Cao finished 31st at 10-over par, underscoring her ability to navigate the course's complexities.
Sophomore Jenna Shilts and junior Frances Kim both tied for 38th place, rounding out the lineup. Shilts posted rounds of 75, 79, and 75, while Kim improved each day, finishing with a strong 73 in the final round.
Boston College excelled on par-5 holes, leading the field with an impressive 8-under performance. This strategic advantage was key in securing their top-four finish.
In the team standings, Virginia Tech took the top spot with a total of 868, followed by UNCG and Mercer tied for third. Individually, McKenzie Mages from SDSU claimed the top position at 4-under par.
