In a thrilling showdown at the Atlanta Lacrosse Invitational, Boston College lacrosse faced a heartbreaker, falling to Michigan 10-9 in double overtime. The Eagles, still searching for their first win, now stand at 0-3, while the Wolverines improve to 3-1.
Shea Dolce was a standout in the net, delivering a stellar performance with 13 saves and a .565 save percentage-her best of the season.
On the offensive front, Molly Driscoll led the charge with four points, netting two goals and dishing out two assists. Marissa White added three points, contributing a goal and two assists. Giulia Colarusso, Devon Russell, and Kylee Colbert also found the back of the net twice each, showcasing BC’s balanced attack.
The Eagles struggled early, trailing 5-2 at halftime. Michigan extended their lead to 6-2 in the third, but that’s when Driscoll ignited a 4-0 run, capped by Russell’s game-tying goal.
Michigan briefly regained the lead, but Colbert and Colarusso responded, with Colarusso giving BC its first lead at 8-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Wolverines struck back with two quick goals, but Colarusso once again came through in the clutch, tying the game at 9. Dolce’s crucial saves, including one with just over two minutes left in regulation, kept the Eagles in the fight, forcing overtime.
The game remained deadlocked until Ceci Stein’s last-second goal in the second overtime sealed the win for Michigan.
Looking ahead, Boston College will aim to rebound as they take on Florida State in Tallahassee on Tuesday at noon.
