Boston College sailing opened its 2026 fall season with a busy weekend that produced a pair of top-10 finishes and a third result outside that range.
The Eagles placed third in the Harry Anderson Trophy, sixth in the Pine Trophy and 13th in the Toni Duetsch as they got the new season underway with three regattas across New England.
At Yale’s Harry Anderson Trophy, Boston College put together its best result of the weekend. Alex Lech and Christian Yanoti handled Division A and finished fourth overall with 56 points.
In Division B, Tanner Krygsveld and Lanie Ferrarone were even sharper, taking second place with 28 points. Those efforts added up to 94 points and a third-place finish for the Eagles.
Boston College followed that with a sixth-place showing at the Pine Trophy, hosted by the Coast Guard. Tor Svedsen skippered the boat, while Michael Sentovich, Kate Joslin and Brendan Peary served as crew. The Eagles finished with 52 points in the regatta.
The weekend wrapped up at MIT for the Toni Deutsch Trophy, where the results were more modest. Sophie Niemann and Madeline Torrey sailed in Division A and placed 13th with 111 points. Charlotte MacDonald and Brooke Bergendahl were 13th in Division B with 104 points, giving Boston College 215 total points and another 13th-place finish.
The Eagles are back on the water next weekend for four regattas in New England. Their slate begins with the NEISA Singlehanded Championships from Sept. 18-19, followed by the Hatch Brown Trophy, Regis Trophy and Mystic Lake Invite on Sunday, September 19th.

Boston Colleges trip to Rutgers offered a clearer look at what the Eagles have been searching for on offense. Mason McKenzie gave the attack a different gear, stretching the field through the air and stressing the Scarlet Knights with his legs while helping BC pile up 402 total yards in a 28-21 road win. The breakthrough moments came early enough and often enough to change the feel of the game, and the defense got a boost from AJ Suraces four interceptions on the other side.
McKenzies biggest swing came when he found Dawson Pough on a 78-yard touchdown, the sort of explosive play Boston College has not had enough of in recent seasons. He also came close to a 100-yard day on the ground and accounted for two touchdowns, giving the Eagles a dual-threat presence they can build around if this version of the offense holds up. Boston College Golf Got An Early Sign Fans Will Want To Watch
Bad weather cut the weekend short at The Doc Gimmler Invitational, but Boston College still walked away with a decent early-season showing. The Eagles finished sixth at 9-over par after the first two rounds were made final, a result that gives the program some useful footing as it moves deeper into the fall schedule.
Senior Markus Lam was the headliner for BC, tying for seventh at 1-under par and giving the Eagles a proven presence near the top of the leaderboard. With the UConn Invitational next at GreatHorse Golf Club from Sept. 27-29, Boston College will have another chance to see whether this opening stretch was a sign of real momentum or just a promising start.
