Boston College Rowing Team Makes Waves in Sarasota
The Boston College rowing team kicked off their Sarasota 2k competition under sunny skies and a gentle breeze on Friday. With temperatures peaking at 85°F, it was an ideal day for racing.
The Eagles are gearing up for a packed Saturday schedule, racing in the Championship Women D1 2V4 Third Level Final at 8:00 a.m., followed by the V4 Petite Final, 2V8 Petite Final, and V8 Petite Final throughout the morning.
Friday's Highlights:
The Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ crews both clinched third-place finishes. The V4+, steered by coxswain Madelyn Stevens and powered by Jo McTamney, Vanessa Ksiazek, Leighton Davis, and Chloe Wilkinson, clocked in at 3:50.1, just shy of Dartmouth’s winning time.
Meanwhile, the V8+, led by coxswain Caroline Jennings with rowers Sofia Martin, Lucy Barratt, Lauren Bauer, Molly Devine, Reagan Rock, Callaghan Nickerson, Lauren Craven, and Ella Ryan, finished with a time of 3:20.0, trailing Southern Methodist by a mere five seconds.
The Second Varsity 8+ secured fourth place, navigating the course in 3:30.0. Under the guidance of coxswain Lucy Fortner, the crew outpaced High Point by nine seconds.
Cassidy Ferron, with her team of Beatrice Maxwell, Kirsten Thorn, Melinda Aznar Klein, and Hannah Cochener, posted a solid time of 4:02.7.
