Boston College’s 2027 ACC slate is set, and the new schedule comes with a catch.
The conference announced Wednesday that the Eagles will get five league games at Alumni Stadium and four on the road. Boston College will host Georgia Tech, SMU, Stanford, Virginia and Wake Forest, while trips are set for Cal, Clemson, Duke and Syracuse. The exact dates will come later.
The matchup list gives BC a mix of familiar and distant opponents. Georgia Tech owns the overall series 8-5, though the Eagles have taken three of the last four meetings heading into the teams’ 2026 game. The Yellow Jackets pulled out a 36-34 win at Alumni Stadium in 2025.
SMU enters with a 3-1 edge, and Boston College’s only win in the series came in the 2023 Fenway Bowl, Jeff Hafley’s final game with the Eagles.
Stanford has won three of the five meetings between the programs, including the 2025 matchup. Both of Boston College’s victories against the Cardinal came at home.
Virginia is one of the stronger series spots for the Eagles, who lead 6-2 and have never lost to the Cavaliers at Alumni Stadium. BC dropped its most recent meeting with the ACC Championship runner-up.
Wake Forest has been one of the tighter series on the schedule, with Boston College holding a 14-13-2 advantage.
The road slate also includes a cross-country trip to Cal, where BC will head back to Berkeley. The teams have met only twice, and Cal’s 28-24 win at Alumni Stadium in 2025 evened the all-time series at 1-1.
Clemson remains a difficult assignment. The Tigers lead the series 22-9 and are riding a 13-game winning streak against the Eagles. Boston College has not beaten Clemson since 2010.
Duke is another familiar opponent, with BC holding a 5-4 edge. The two teams are set to play again this season, and Duke won the last meeting in 2022, 38-31.
The ACC also listed Syracuse on Boston College’s schedule, though no additional details were included in the release.
The scheduling wrinkle comes on the non-conference side. Boston College already has UTEP, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Rhode Island on the books, but with the Eagles now set for nine ACC games, they can only play three non-conference opponents. That means one of those four games will need to be canceled or pushed to a future season.
The ACC said 16 teams will play nine conference games in 2027, with Clemson the only school scheduled for eight.

Boston College left with a 28-21 win over Rutgers, but it was the kind of game that reminded everyone around the program that September victories can still come with a warning label. The Eagles leaned on a strong rushing effort, with Mason McKenzie carrying 13 times for 94 yards and a touchdown, and that ground game gave them enough control to keep Rutgers at arm's length for most of the afternoon.
Even so, the margin for comfort never really appeared, and the sloppier moments in the middle of the game stood out as much as the scoreboard.
