CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse soared to a commanding 19-7 victory over Florida State on Tuesday afternoon at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex. This win marks the Eagles' first of the season, bringing their record to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Florida State falls to 2-4 and 0-2 in the league.
The Eagles owned the draw circle, dominating with a 24-4 advantage. Abbey Herod was a standout, securing a season-high nine draw controls. Giulia Colarusso and Avery Hudson also shone, with Colarusso achieving a career-best seven and Hudson adding five.
Offensively, it was a team effort with three players achieving hat tricks and two players netting five goals each. Colarusso had a career day, racking up five goals, an assist, and a personal-best six points. Molly Driscoll matched her career high with five goals, while Marissa White set a new season best with three goals and two assists.
Hudson and Hanna Davis both chipped in four points each, marking career highs for both players. On the defensive end, Julia Hodell led with three ground balls, and Shea Baker contributed two caused turnovers. Goalie Shea Dolce made eight saves, boasting a .533 save percentage.
The Eagles set the tone early, jumping to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter. White got the scoring started, and Davis added both of her goals within the first 10 minutes. Despite FSU's three-goal rally, BC maintained a slim lead heading into the second quarter.
BC opened the second quarter with a 3-0 run, capped by a Hudson goal, extending their lead to 7-3. FSU attempted a comeback with two goals, but a strike from Driscoll ensured an 8-5 advantage for BC at halftime.
The second half was all Boston College, as they limited FSU to just two goals while netting 11 of their own. BC's relentless attack began with four consecutive goals, stretching the lead to 12-5. Lily Kondas answered an FSU goal, maintaining a comfortable 13-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
BC continued their offensive onslaught with six more goals in the final period, ending with another tally from Hudson, sealing a decisive 12-goal victory.
The Eagles are set to face Clemson on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Morgan's Message Game.
