Boston College Just Landed A Quiet Recruiting Win Fans Will Appreciate

Boston College strengthens its future special teams lineup by adding talented Florida recruits Aidan Field and Mateo Sanchez to its 2027 class.

Boston College added two more names to its 2027 recruiting class on Friday, and both came from the same place: North Broward Prep in Coconut Creek, Fla.

The Eagles picked up commitments from long snapper Aidan Field and kicker/punter Mateo Sanchez, giving Boston College a pair of special-teams pledges from the same high school. Sanchez was offered by BC on July 8 after he visited campus and met with special teams coach Matt Thurin, and Field’s offer followed a week later.

Sanchez made his decision public with a pair of emphatic messages on X. “100% committed!!!” he wrote.

“Thank you so much [to coach Thurin, assistant special teams coach Nick McGriff, and Bill O’Brien] for this incredible opportunity. Thank you to all the coaches who have been with me along this journey, [and] thank you to my parents, who have been by my side through all the highs and lows.

GO EAGLES.”

He also posted, “100% COMMITTED,” and added, “Thank you to the Boston College coaching staff for this incredible opportunity. I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, especially my coaches, parents, family, teammates, and friends.

I wouldn’t be here without your constant support, encouragement, and belief in me. Can’t wait to get to work!”

Field checks in at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, with a top snap time of .68 seconds. He is a Rubio Top 12 invitee. Sanchez is listed as a 4.5-star kicker on Kohl’s.

On the recruiting front, Sanchez chose Boston College over Florida State, Duke, and Army. He also worked out at Notre Dame and Georgia Tech summer camps.

With the two additions, Boston College’s 2027 class now sits at 29 verbal commits and ranks No. 51 nationally on 247Sports.

Bill O'Brien Just Raised The Stakes On Boston College's Reset

Boston Colleges reset is already taking shape around a pair of transfers who were front and center at ACC Kickoff, where Mason McKenzie and Anthony Palano talked through the winding paths that brought them to Chestnut Hill. For a program trying to move on from a rough season and reintroduce itself with a largely remade roster, having new faces carry part of the message says plenty about where Bill OBrien wants the program headed.

OBrien also made it clear the competition at quarterback has reached its first real checkpoint, with McKenzie moving into the top spot for now, while Palano drew praise for the kind of leadership and production the Eagles need on defense. There is still a long way to go before Boston College knows how much of this summer momentum will translate once the games start, and the latest injury news only adds another layer of uncertainty to a roster still trying to settle into its new identity.
