Boston College Is Suddenly At The Center Of A Huge Recruiting Test

Catch the excitement as top prospect Josiah Nance reveals his college choice live, with four major programs eagerly awaiting his decision.

Josiah Nance’s next step is coming into focus Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 78-ranked player in the national 2027 class will announce his college commitment live on the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel at 5 p.m. ET, with Boston College, SMU, USC and Wake Forest still in the mix.

Nance, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard from Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame, has already taken official visits to each of the four schools this fall. He also emerged as one of the biggest movers in the latest national rankings update, a continuation of his climb as one of the West Coast’s most recognizable prospects since his early high school years.

What makes Nance such a coveted target is easy to see. 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein describes him as a versatile left-handed guard with the size and strength to handle all three perimeter spots. His best work comes when he’s attacking downhill, especially in transition, though he can also hammer the rim in the halfcourt.

"Nance is a big lefty guard with the size and strength play all three perimeter positions. He excels at getting downhill, particularly in the open floor, but is also able to pressure the rim with real force in the halfcourt.

"He's athletic, able to play well above the rim off one or two feet, but still converted a surprisingly low 39% of his rim attempts during the EYBL season.

"He's an inconsistent volume shooter whose mechanics look more fluid in the midrange area. He has a slight glitch in his release as he extends his range, but still attempted almost five per game, making 33%.

"His shot selection is also a concern as he'll settle for tough ones, including tough 2s early in the shot clock. Similarly, his overall decision making with the ball is probably his biggest swing skill.

"Nance's size, strength, and movement skills give him the potential to be a versatile, switchable defender.

"He already gets his hands on a decent amount of balls (averaging 1.2 steals and 3.9 rebounds per game) and has a wealth of still untapped upside on that end of the floor."

That blend of tools and room to grow is exactly why his decision is drawing attention. Nance has the frame, athletic pop and defensive upside to fit multiple roles, and Wednesday he’ll let everyone know which program gets the shot to develop him next.

Boston College Gets A Crucial Week 7 Test Against A Shaken Pitt Team

Boston College comes out of its first bye week of the 2026 season facing a Week 7 trip to Pittsburgh, and the timing gives the Eagles a chance to reset before a road game that now looks even more important. The matchup carries extra weight because Boston College has been trying to find more consistency on offense, where it sits 104th in FBS, while its defense has been the steadier side of the ball at 37th nationally.

Pitt, meanwhile, is dealing with a major change under center, and the Panthers' next few weeks will be shaped by how quickly they can settle things at quarterback. Boston College will be watching closely after seeing what happened in Pittsburgh's loss to North Carolina, because the Eagles have a defense that can make life difficult if the Panthers are still sorting through answers. Boston College Showed Off Something Fans Needed To See Early

Boston Colleges only home fall ball date offered a useful early look at a lineup and pitching staff that already seemed to have some early-season life. In a doubleheader against Hofstra, the Eagles got on the board early in both games and spent the rest of the afternoon protecting their lead, with Ty Mainolfi, Luke Gallo and Danny Surowiec all helping drive the offense while Brady Miller, Brayden Ryan, Champ Davis, Matt Kouser and Kyle Kipp handled the mound work.

For a program trying to build momentum before the real games begin, that kind of steadiness matters as much as the final result. Hofstra made some pushes to get back into both contests, but Boston College kept answering, and the combination of timely hitting and enough pitching depth to close out a long day is exactly the sort of thing fans wanted to see from the group in its lone home fall showcase. Boston College Faces A Rare Local Test Fans Havent Seen In Years

Boston Colleges mens soccer team heads into Tuesday night with a familiar local opponent on the schedule and a much different setting than it has seen for most of the fall. The Eagles will meet Boston University at 7 p.m., carrying a 5-4-2 record into a matchup that brings another layer of intrigue because the Terriers have been perfect in Patriot League play.

For BC, the date itself is part of the draw. This has been one of the rare Boston soccer meetings fans around here have not had the chance to see in years, and the programs history with BU gives the game a little extra weight even before the first whistle. The Eagles will get a chance to measure themselves against a rival that has been strong this season, and a result here could say plenty about where BC stands as the schedule tightens. [Read more 🡒]
