Boston College Hockey Is Gaining Serious International Attention

Boston College's Teddy Stiga joins fellow Eagle Dean Letourneau on the U.S. Collegiate Selects, set to compete on the international stage at the 2026 Spengler Cup.

Boston College forward Teddy Stiga is headed to the 2026 Spengler Cup with the U.S. Collegiate Selects, giving the Eagles a second player on the roster for the tournament in Switzerland.

Stiga’s addition follows last week’s announcement that fellow Boston College junior forward Dean Letourneau had also been selected. The USCS will take part in the 98th edition of the event, set for Dec. 26 to 31 at Eisstadion Davos in Davos, Switzerland. It will be the second time a team made up of college hockey’s best has competed in the tournament.

Stiga has already made his presence felt this season for Boston College. The assistant captain has two goals in five games, including the game-tying goal in last Saturday’s 2-2 tie at No.

4 Denver. Over 72 career games, the Massachusetts native has totaled 53 points, scoring 22 goals and adding 31 assists.

As a freshman, he was part of the United States team that won gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship and scored the overtime winner against Finland.

The U.S. Collegiate Selects will open the 2026 Spengler Cup on Saturday, Dec. 26 against Frölunda HC of Sweden.

The next matchup will come against host HC Davos on either Dec. 27 or Dec. 28.

The roster will eventually include 25 student-athletes from all six NCAA Division I conferences, and more names will be announced in the coming months.

The event itself carries plenty of history. The Spengler Cup was first played in 1923 and remains the oldest invitational hockey tournament in the world. Each December, six teams from Europe and North America meet in Davos, Switzerland during the stretch between Christmas and New Year’s.

The current roster includes: Teddy Stiga, F, Boston College

Boston College Suddenly Has A Tight End Decision That Could Matter Saturday

Boston College suddenly has a late-week tight end wrinkle to sort through before Saturdays trip to Duke. Head coach Bill OBrien said Kaelan Chudzinski is available for the Week 9 road game, a notable turn for a player who was expected to be out for the season after suffering an Achilles injury in spring practice.

Chudzinskis rehab has moved faster than anticipated, and his status now leaves the Eagles with a meaningful decision to make right up until kickoff. Boston Colleges tight end group has struggled this season, so even the possibility of getting him back changes the calculus for an offense looking for any edge it can find on the road. [Read more 🡒]

Boston College Opens Hockey East Play With An Early Rivalry Test

Boston College is heading into Hockey East play with a familiar kind of early-season test, one that should reveal a lot about where the Eagles stand after a slow start. The No. 20 Eagles bring a 1-3-1 record into a two-game series against Northeastern at Kelley Rink, and the matchup comes with the sort of edge that usually makes October hockey feel a little more urgent than the standings suggest.

Northeastern arrives with a 2-1-0 mark, and the Huskies have already made themselves a tough out in this rivalry. For BC, the opening conference weekend is as much about settling into league play as it is about finding traction in the season overall, with the series also setting the tone for the stretch ahead and giving fans their first real look at how the Eagles stack up in Hockey East. Boston College Opens A Big Hockey East Test For Its Fast Start

No. 15 Boston College gets back to Hockey East business this week when it hosts Vermont for a two-game set at Conte Forum on Oct. 30 and 31, with both games streaming on ESPN+. The Eagles have been playing a brisk early schedule and arrive at 4-3-0 overall, carrying the kind of record that suggests there is still plenty to sort out even as the season starts to take shape.

Vermont comes in at 3-3-0 and will be making its first Hockey East appearance against BC, which gives the series an early conference edge even before the standings begin to settle. For Boston College, it is a chance to protect home ice and keep building momentum in a league that rarely gives teams much room to coast, especially this early in the year. [Read more 🡒]
