No. 16 Boston College gets back on the ice this weekend with a chance to reset its start, hosting St.
Cloud State in a two-game non-conference set at Chestnut Hill. The series opens Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and wraps up Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with both games streaming on ESPN+ and airing on WEEI 850 AM.
BC enters at 0-1-0 after a 3-2 loss to Alaska in Friday’s season opener, a game that still produced some early-season positives. Teddy Stiga and Dean Letourneau both scored on the power play, while Matias Vanhanen and Carson Woodall each picked up an assist for their first collegiate point. Louka Cloutier also handled a heavy workload, stopping 26 shots.
The Eagles are ranked No. 16 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls, and they were pegged fourth in the Hockey East preseason poll with 86 points. Providence took the top spot with eight first-place votes and 106 points, followed by UMass with 98 and Boston University with 87. UConn landed fifth with 73 points, then Merrimack with 68, Maine with 57, Northeastern with 52, New Hampshire with 35, UMass Lowell with 31, and Vermont with 22.
This group also has its leadership set. Will Vote will serve as captain in 2026-27, with Jake Sondreal and Teddy Stiga named assistant captains.
Vote has played 93 games over three seasons on the Heights and has 42 points on 19 goals and 23 assists. He put up career-best numbers in 2025-26 with 10 goals, 11 assists, and 21 points.
Sondreal has 27 points in 72 games over two seasons, while Stiga has posted 51 points in 67 games across two years, with 20 goals and 31 assists.
Boston College also brings back some established production. Dean Letourneau and Ryan Conmy headline the returning scorers, with Letourneau earning Hockey East Third Team All-Star honors after a 22-goal, 17-assist, 39-point season.
Conmy finished third on the team with 27 points, scoring nine goals and adding 18 assists. Luka Radivojevic earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team after appearing in 34 games and totaling 16 points, including one goal and 15 assists.
Cloutier returns after going 19-13-1 with four shutouts, a .910 save percentage, and a 2.34 goals-against average.
St. Cloud State comes in at 1-2-0 and split a series with No.
12/16 Michigan Tech last weekend. The Huskies dropped a 3-2 overtime decision before answering with a 5-3 win the next night.
Gavyn Thoreson leads the way with five points, tops on the team in goals with two, assists with three, and points overall. Seven Huskies have scored one goal, Nolan Stevenson has a team-best seven blocked shots, and Patriks Berzins earned the win Saturday after making 30 saves on 33 shots.
The all-time series is tight, with Boston College holding a 3-4-0 record against St. Cloud State. The teams last met in the 2024-25 season, when BC went to Minnesota and came away with a pair of wins, 4-1 and 2-1.

Pitt Offense Faces A Real Confidence Test At Boston College
Pitt heads into Boston College trying to steady itself after a home loss to North Carolina, and the matchup carries a little more intrigue now that the Panthers have had to settle on a new quarterback plan. Fifth-year quarterback Holden Geriner is set to keep the starting job after Mason Heintschel went down with an ACL injury at Virginia Tech, giving Pitt a different look as it tries to find some traction on offense in a game where both teams bring notable strengths on either side of the ball.
Boston College, meanwhile, is coming out of a bye week and trying to move past the flu outbreak that interrupted its rhythm. The Eagles also have some welcome defensive help on the way, with linebacker Bodie Kahoun back on the depth chart and a chance to play, which adds another layer to a game that already feels important for both teams as they sort out where they really stand. Boston College Already Has A Front Office Shakeup Under Bill O'Brien
Boston Colleges football overhaul under Bill OBrien has already hit an early wrinkle, with general manager Kenyatta Watson and the program mutually parting ways, according to ESPN. Watson, who came to Chestnut Hill from Auburn where he had served as assistant general manager, was hired in December 2025 as part of the effort to strengthen the Eagles front office structure.
The move comes after only one year on the job, leaving another key offseason question around a program that has been trying to build out OBriens vision. Boston College has not disclosed why the separation happened, and for now the focus shifts to who helps fill that void and how quickly the Eagles can stabilize the position. [Read more 🡒]
Luke Murray Just Added A BC Prospect Fans Need To Watch
Boston College has landed a promising new piece for its basketball future in Elijah Paez, a 6-foot-4 wing from Iowa whose stock has climbed sharply over the summer. Luke Murray and the Eagles added a player whose appeal starts on the defensive end, with Paez bringing athleticism, effort and a reputation for doing the kind of dirty work coaches tend to trust early.
His rise gained even more momentum after the departure of his EYBL teammate Marcus Spears Jr., and the interest followed from several major programs along the way. Paez still has room to grow as an outside shooter, but that part of his game only adds to the intrigue for BC, which now has to see how far his development can go once he gets into the program.
