Boston College's running back room has undergone a significant transformation this offseason. With Jordan McDonald exhausting his eligibility and Turbo Richard and Alex Broome entering the transfer portal-Richard finding a new home with the national champion Indiana Hoosiers-the Eagles were left with a lean roster. Now, true sophomore Bo MacCormack and redshirt freshman Mekhi Dodd are the only scholarship running backs remaining.
MacCormack saw some action as a freshman, but the pace of the game seemed a bit overwhelming at times. Meanwhile, Dodd’s opportunities came late in the season, leaving plenty of room for growth and development.
To bolster their depth, Boston College turned to the transfer portal, bringing in Nolan Ray from Maryland and Evan Dickens from Liberty. Ray made an immediate impact as a freshman but saw his role diminish in his sophomore year. On the other hand, Dickens struggled for playing time at a Power Four school but found his stride at a Group of Five program.
As the team evaluates its offensive skill positions, there’s a strong possibility that Ray could emerge as a standout player, potentially becoming a key asset in the Eagles' backfield. With these new additions, Boston College is poised to revitalize its running game and bring fresh energy to the field.
