Boston College Football Loses Key Players After 2025 Season Ends

With key departures across multiple positions, Boston College enters the offseason facing significant questions about experience and depth heading into 2026.

The 2025 Boston College football season is officially in the rearview, and now it’s all about the offseason shuffle. With the transfer portal wide open and roster turnover well underway, it’s not just about who’s leaving - it’s about how much they played.

So instead of just tracking names, let’s talk snaps. Because snaps tell the story of impact.

And right now, Boston College is watching a significant chunk of its 2025 production walk out the door.

Using data from PFF, we’ve broken down the snap counts by position - who’s graduated, who’s transferred, and how much of last season’s on-field action is sticking around. Some players, like KP Price, wore multiple hats this past season, but for simplicity, we’re counting them at just one position - the one listed in PFF’s system.

Let’s dig into it.

Quarterback - 854 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 330
  • Transferred Snaps: 487
  • Total Departed Snaps: 817
  • % Returning: 4.4%

This one’s as close to a clean slate as it gets. With Dylan Lonergan hitting the portal and Grayson James graduating, BC is left with just a handful of garbage-time snaps from Shaker Reisig.

That’s it. Femi Babalola and Anthony Coellner are still waiting in the wings, but neither has seen the field yet.

Expect quarterback to be a high-priority target when the portal reopens in January - because right now, the room is paper thin.

Running Back - 840 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 253
  • Transferred Snaps: 0
  • Total Departed Snaps: 253
  • % Returning: 69%

The backfield is in better shape. Jordan McDonald has used up his eligibility, but the Eagles retain the bulk of their production here.

Turbo Richard carried the load last season, logging over half the team’s running back snaps. With no current losses to the portal, the RB room looks steady heading into 2026.

Wide Receiver - 2,281 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 785
  • Transferred Snaps: 0
  • Total Departed Snaps: 785
  • % Returning: 65%

The biggest blow here is the graduation of Lewis Bond - and it’s a big one. Bond was a workhorse, logging over 700 snaps in a record-breaking campaign.

Luke McLaughlin also departs, though his snap count was minimal. Datrell Jones is in the portal, but since he didn’t log a single snap in 2025, his departure doesn’t affect the numbers.

Overall, BC retains a healthy 65% of its WR snaps.

Tight End - 1,147 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 675
  • Transferred Snaps: 0
  • Total Departed Snaps: 675
  • % Returning: 41%

This is another spot that takes a hit. Jeremiah Franklin was the ironman of the tight end group, playing nearly 700 snaps and functioning as a true every-down contributor.

With him gone, over half the production at tight end walks out the door. BC will need someone to step up here - both as a blocker and a pass-catching option.

Offensive Line - 4,272 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 1,422
  • Transferred Snaps: 3
  • Total Departed Snaps: 1,425
  • % Returning: 66%

There’s some uncertainty here, but for now, we’re counting Jude Bowry as gone - he’s expected to head to the NFL, even if that hasn’t been made official. Logan Taylor and Tommy Matheson are still TBD, with Taylor possibly returning and Matheson eligible to redshirt.

Kevin Cline is confirmed as graduated. Despite the moving parts, two-thirds of the O-line snaps are still on the roster - not a bad foundation to build on.

EDGE - 1,712 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 418
  • Transferred Snaps: 0
  • Total Departed Snaps: 418
  • % Returning: 75%

The EDGE group remains largely intact. Quintayvious Hutchins is the only departure, and while he was productive, the Eagles retain 75% of their snaps at this position. That’s a strong returning core, and BC should be able to maintain continuity here.

Interior Defensive Line - 1,808 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 948
  • Transferred Snaps: 3
  • Total Departed Snaps: 951
  • % Returning: 47.4%

This is one of the more depleted units. Mike Bumpus, Sed McConnell, and Kwan Williams have all exhausted their eligibility, and Sterling Sanders is the lone transfer.

That leaves just under half the snaps returning. The statuses of Ty Clemons and Owen Stoudmire are still up in the air - both could return due to redshirt eligibility, which would be a boost.

Linebacker - 1,321 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 855
  • Transferred Snaps: 279
  • Total Departed Snaps: 1,134
  • % Returning: 14%

This is the biggest exodus on the roster, and it’s not close. BC is losing over 85% of its linebacker snaps from 2025.

Jason Hewlett and Daveon Crouch are portal-bound, while Owen McGowan, Bryce Steele, Will Straka, and Vaughn Pemberton are all graduating. This room is going to need a total rebuild - and fast.

Safety - 2,334 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 0
  • Transferred Snaps: 0
  • Total Departed Snaps: 0
  • % Returning: 100%

Now for some good news. The safety room is untouched.

Every single snap from 2025 is still on the roster. That’s a huge plus for defensive continuity - especially in a secondary that’s going to need to help cover for a retooling linebacker corps.

Assuming KP Price sticks around - and there’s been no indication otherwise - this group is rock solid.

Cornerback - 2,065 Total Snaps

  • Graduated Snaps: 0
  • Transferred Snaps: 43
  • Total Departed Snaps: 43
  • % Returning: 98%

Another strong retention rate here. The only confirmed departure is Ashton McShane, who entered the portal after playing a limited role.

There are still questions around Amari Jackson and Cameron Martinez, both of whom could potentially return with another year of eligibility. If they do, this unit could come back nearly intact - a major win for the defense.

Special Teams

Special teams are always a bit of a puzzle to quantify - with six different units and a rotation of players across them, snap counts don’t tell the full story. What we do know: punter Shamus Florio and long snapper Ben Mann are out. Andy Quinn is expected to step in as the new punter, but the rest of the units will need some sorting out during spring and summer.

Final Thoughts

Boston College is heading into the 2026 season with a roster that’s part familiar, part unknown. The defense - particularly the secondary - looks sturdy, but the front seven has taken some real hits. Offensively, the quarterback room is almost empty, and tight end is thin, but running back and wide receiver return solid production.

The numbers don’t lie: some units are in rebuild mode, others are ready to reload. With the portal set to reopen in January, the next few weeks will be crucial in shaping what this roster looks like when the Eagles take the field again.
