Boston College’s night against Rutgers took a frightening turn Friday when linebacker Bodie Kahoun had to be taken off the field in an ambulance after an injury in the second quarter.
The school later said the redshirt sophomore had movement in all of his extremities and was headed to a local hospital for further evaluation.
“Bodie Kahoun has movement in all extremities and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation,” the team posted on X.
Kahoun was hurt with just under eight minutes left in the second quarter while helping bring down Rutgers running back Antwan Raymond near midfield. As a second Boston College player came in to finish the tackle, that player’s knee hit Kahoun in the upper body and appeared to make contact with the back of his helmet as both players went to the turf.
The transfer from Notre Dame stayed on his back after the play while medical personnel and team staff worked to move him onto a stretcher. He was then placed into an ambulance that had driven onto the field. As he was taken away, Kahoun lifted his left arm and gave a thumbs-up.

ESPN sideline reporter Dana Boyle later said Kahoun, a native of Roanoke, Va., was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which is about 4 miles from Boston College’s home field in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The injury came on a night Boston College was already tied to something bigger than the scoreboard. Friday marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and the Eagles were honoring Welles Crowther in their annual “bandanna game,” wearing custom uniforms with a red paisley bandanna pattern and “For Welles” on the back of their jerseys.
During a halftime interview on the broadcast, Eagles defensive back KP Price put Kahoun and Crowther at the center of the team’s focus.
“Hey, now we’re playing for two reasons: for Bodie, for Welles,” Price said.
Crowther, a former Boston College lacrosse player who graduated in 1999, later worked as an equities trader and died in the World Trade Center attacks. He became known as the “ Man in the Red Bandanna ” for the way he used a red bandanna to shield himself from smoke and repeatedly went back into the South Tower to help at least 10 people before the building collapsed.
At halftime, Boston College led Rutgers 20-7, and Kahoun had already recorded six tackles.
