Boston College women’s soccer is back at Newton Campus Soccer Field on Sunday, Aug. 30, and the Eagles will try to keep their unbeaten start rolling when they host Dartmouth at 4 p.m.
BC enters the matchup at 3-0-0 after opening the year with wins over Siena, St. John’s and Cornell. The scheduled Thursday, Aug. 27 game against Rutgers never happened, with the contest canceled because of weather.
The Eagles are coming off a 3-1 road win at Cornell on Aug. 23, a result that pushed them to 3-0-0 and kept their early-season surge intact. Through three games, Boston College has piled up 12 goals and allowed only three. The edge has shown everywhere: the Eagles have outshot opponents 56-27 and own a 27-15 advantage in corner kicks.
Nicolette Kiorpes was the headliner against Cornell, scoring twice for a brace in the victory. Addison Kalaw also had a strong night with a goal and an assist, while Amalia Dray scored on a penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
Kiorpes leads the Eagles with six points on three goals. Kalaw and Sophie Reale each have five points. Boston College’s scoring has come from all over the roster, with four Eagles - Kiorpes, Tess Barrett, Anndi Wright and Kalaw - netting the first goals of their careers this season.
The offense has been humming from the start. BC is averaging 4.0 goals per game, and its 12 goals have come with 11 assists attached.
Eight different Eagles have already scored. Kiorpes leads the team with three goals, while Kalaw and Reale have two each.
Barrett, Dray, Ashley Roberts, Emily Mara and Wright have also scored.
Dartmouth arrives with a 2-0-1 record after beating UMass Lowell and San Francisco and playing New Hampshire to a 0-0 draw. The Big Green has given up just one goal through three games while scoring four of its own. Dartmouth has also controlled possession well enough to outshoot opponents 47-25 and hold a 21-8 advantage in corner kicks.
Nadia Young leads the Big Green with five points on two goals and an assist. Stephanie Lathrop has one goal and one assist, and Emmanuella Frimpomaa has scored once. In net, Ola Goebel has started all three games and posted a .917 save percentage with 11 saves and two shutouts.
